I have worked in a paper mill in Menasha, WI for 35 years. Up until 2020 we never had machine shutdowns or "curtailments" as the upper management weenies like to call it. We should be going into our busy season right now with summer approaching and all the napkin, roll towel and toilet paper use that goes along with it. I just heard that one of our paper machines is probably going to be "curtailed" to run 5 days instead of 7. Perhaps this is just another "canary in the coal mine" sign. I read many books in the 1980s about long-term great depression cycles and fully expected I would live to see the next one occur. It appears my expectation is about to be fulfilled.
