A couple days ago the Economist ran an interesting story on who is making all the money in healthcare sector.

It turns out the medical monopolies are worse than we thought.

According to the article, health insurance companies (eg United Health) are regulated on their profit margin, so they decided to buy up all the clinics and pharmacies in a region, in order to maximize profits.

This should be 100% illegal under various FTC and RICO statutes.
