You are correct in more ways than one. To paraphrase the late Ed Koch, Mayor of New York City, this is not the first time that they did this, rather the first time so many people know the horror of what they do.

Secondly, you are correct in that this has the potential to be an unveiling, an Armageddon by literal and figurative meaning, of all the skullduggery and complicity in the past.

In any institution one of the best ways to catch a thief or find corruption's true depth is to keep letting it happen as the effects and machinations become even more obvious.

They have done things before large and small scale, and the truth is going to come out.

The damage will be worse than the injury, and those responsible know it, whistling past the graveyard and getting numerous stays of the inevitable execution with their doubling down if only to draw another breath.

Do not fear the physical issues or some dark fantasy that the next generations could be carriers of something which changes humanity negatively.

Be concerned that the truth will be too much to bear as silent witnesses become not so silent anymore.
