The coding for the S protein is approximately 3,000 bases long, encoding 1,000 amino acids. To start they probably synthesize DNA then can transform it to RNA as needed. Since the J&J also has problems it points to the originally synthesized DNA. Synthetic DNA is not necessarily perfect, perhaps an error in this original synthesis?

Let me present what is easy in synthetic genomics. The first tools is PCR which lets one change single stranded (SS) to dual stranded (DS) and make multiple copies. It is possible to sequence (read) DNA but usually prefer to do shorter (~100) long sections. Possible to push DNA into bacteria to make huge numbers of high quality copies. Possible to duplicate RNA as needed with RDRP that COVID uses. (RNA Dependent RNA Polymerase)

Seems they would make a guide RNA then duplicate like PCR, take the temperature up to convert to SS, lower temperature to get the primers to attach, then a middling temperature to have the RDRP run down and make the RNA DS.

I was going to point out that the RNA is not natural for the mRNA vaccines, it has special bases that make it last longer. But, this obviously is not the source of the problem as J&J also shows the problem.
