As others have said, condolences to those who have lost. (Lost my own dad to dementia in July/2019 before covid hit.)
If I can add anything here, it's to remind people that IMHO the best and most powerful word in English is "NO". (As in "congress shall make NO law...")
Not long ago, I was the only unvaxxed person in a room of fifteen who hadn't taken the vax. When directly challenged on if I was going to get it, I just said "No".
I wasn't being brave, as everyone there was older than me and some of them were 75+ yrs old. I understood. But my decision was still No.
Former manager advised me (while fending off requirements creep on our project) to everyday practice saying "NO" until my tongue bled.
Good advice then and good advice now.
These people only have power because not enough people are saying "NO" and meaning it. When they do, this bullshit ends.
As for the folks in hospitals...
They choose what they want to hear, they don't tell a lie(?)
