Wish I hadn't clicked on Quora while doing a search for the number of people genocided by Mao. One CCP apologist posted the following lunacy:

"Deaths in the failure of the Great Leap Forward were unintended, whereas genocide implies intent."

These days CNN would probably refer to Mao's killing spree as a mostly peaceful transformation.
