 What If....

I've used Quickbooks for many years. I'm a one-man band, so all I need is basic accounting.

The last decent version was 2013. After that Intuit managed to fuck up every upgrade. In addition they would change the database format so it wouldn't be compatible with earlier versions.

I decided to give the 2016 version a try. Before proceeding I saved a copy of my company file, and created a new restore point. It was a disaster for me, and many other people. Not only did this upgrade FUBAR my PC, the new version of QB was a POS.

I ended up doing a system restore from the restore point I had just created. Then I had to re-install QB from the 2013 CD I had.

To this day I still use the 2013 version. At this point I wouldn't upgrade if they offered it for free.

Intuit is also pulling shit with TurboTax. For one thing it now will not load on Windows7 (at least not without a bit of hacking). I loaded it on a Windows10 PC, did my taxes, and re-sold the CD on eBay as it's supposed to be good for 5 separate installs.

Apparently Intuit watches eBay as I got an email that a complaint was filed that said I had no right to re-sell the CD. So they took down my listing. The guy I sold it to said it worked fine, so no harm done.

Intuit has now guaranteed I will never use another one of their products.
