"passive suicidal ideation"

Ah, so there's an actual term for it. Thanks for giving me words for it; that always helps. I have seen or heard of way too many people who are doing just that -- passive suicidal ideation. Intelligent, smart, accomplished people, with seemingly good lives and, to all appearances, a lot to live for... and they're NOT mindless CNN addicts, so they are often well aware of the risks. AND, they're not the just-giving-in-to-peer-pressure types, either. (I don't doubt that there's a lot of the latter out there, but they're not the ones I'm talking about.) No, it's death wish. You hear it in their words: "Well, I'm gonna die of SOMETHING sooner or later!"

I want to shout, like Aragorn to the men of the West: "BUT TODAY IS NOT THAT DAY!"

Or, like Dylan Thomas to his father: "Rage, rage against the dying of the light!"

I don't know why they choose death... guilty consciences? a wicked spell cast on them by the devil? an overruling of their free will by the most powerful and global hypnotic mass psychotic delusion ever seen in the history of humanity*? some combination of all the above?

Whatever, it is horrifying to witness.

* Perhaps the lightning-fast spread of Muhammad's death cult in the seventh and eighth centuries might be the most powerful such mass hypnosis in history... but even it was not so global as Covidism, obviously. And many, if not most, back then only converted at literally the point of the sword.
