How does one know the real numbers of Covid infections when the tests are wildly inaccurate?

How does one get at the real Covid deaths when hospitals have been paid to list unrelated deaths as Covid caused?

Gunshot to the head with a positive Covid test means you died of Covid and not the fact your brain was removed.

I seem to remember Karl approached it by looking at the total USA deaths by all causes and it showed no spike in deaths.
