@Tickerguy you and your readership are realists. I think the "elites" calling the shots on the panic porn still think they can sit in some fortified enclave while the "lesser" people like us just die off in the chaos.

I know that sounds like complete sci-fi villain nonsense but it seems to be the only logical explanation for the risks they're taking.
