A black friend of mine on FB who is a retired nurse posted an article about getting out in the sun to generate vitamin D. I pointed out that people with darker complexions might not be able to get enough vitamin D from the sun to achieve therapeutic blood levels and probably need to supplement. She agreed 100% and wrote that she took 10,000 IU of D3 per day.
