You're the one being practiced on. 2. Over the last 30+ years medicine has gone from an art which one practices, and which is accepted as imperfect and individualized, to a rote commercial model where the practitioners are immune from laws everyone else must follow, and therefore whatever they chose to do that makes the MOST MONEY, irrespective of all other considerations, is done. Yep. Greed! I once saw an surgeon for an opinion on my torn meniscus. He said we must do surgery in the next two weeks or I would soon need a knee replacement and since he was in such demand I should lock up a place on his schedule. I went back two weeks later after researching treatment plans and asked him about physical therapy. He said he didnt think it would work but finally agreed to give me a script. I asked him why he didnt first offer physical therapy and he said most people would rather have the surgery. 6 weeks of therapy and exercises the pain was gone and mobility returned. That was 10 years ago and I have not had further problems. In my opinion he cared more about the surgery fee than what was best for me. Greed! What ever happened to do no harm? 2021-05-03 21:00:40
