Regarding solar panels - because they are almost always leased instead of owned, they are a nightmare if you need to sell your house for any reason. What buyer wants to buy used solar panels? and take over your lease? Can you have them removed by the installation company, and at what cost? Do you have to buy out the lease?
I didn't realize folks didn't just buy them straight out. We paid 17K cash and got the 30% govt rebate in our tax returns. They have been 'mine' since day 1.

@Hstella
The technology on solar panels is constantly evolving. Some of the solar panel investigations I have done were less than 5 years old and the solar panels were obsolete, so the entire array had to be replaced.
I am waiting for the property insurers to start requiring a rider or special policy for insuring houses with solar panels, especially on the roof.
Roof installations are a guaranteed potential of at least 100 possible roof leaks.

A home near us just had panels put on both the south facing and west facing roofs. What amazed me is the shingles are visibly old starting to curl on the corners and the roof isn't flat and straight. Who would put that on top of something that will need replaced soon?
At the local university they did a solar power demonstrator on a three story building and then built massive dorms around it so that it only gets full sun about three hours a day. It demonstrates something OK, but not what they think.
"Roof installations are a guaranteed potential of at least 100 possible roof leaks". No!! Not water leaking in my unfinished garage, ;-).

Rerun your numbers using 12-15% transmission and distribution losses.
That number comes from Ameren, a midwest utility (primarily/exclusively coal fired) power generation.
Pitched grid scale battery systems to them a handful of years ago.
Inside tip: they could care less about reducing system losses. They don't assign a value to a watt of saved power...only what that watt represents in GHG reduction which the fedgov will now reimburse them for
