Bullshit!... Karl, you ARE reaching people that have NEVER heard of the TF.
Pika-steph 57k posts, incept 2007-09-11

Whatever Karl chooses to write in the future will most definitely continue to reach a metric shitton of people. Of that, I'm quite sure.

Which is bigger, a metric shitton, or an imperial shitton?

And the answer is... AN IMPERIAL SHITTON.

See, metric is just over 10% larger, whereas imperial is 25% larger.

But I think I'd rather pass on the imperial shitton and grab an imperial stout instead. smiley

I just want to note that your efforts here are not at all in vain. One reason among many I check your tickers is quite simply the quality of the writing. For clarity and concision, you are unbeatable. A real model for anyone wanting exemplars.

So how or whichever path you choose going forward, I hope you keep the archive of past tickers alive. Since we may well be reliving the experience in someway shortly, the home truths in your tickers will continually shine a light.

Thank you very much for your contributions to our sanity.

Karl,

To borrow terminology from The Matrix movie series, to me, you are the modern day equivalent of Morpheus.

I was your typical CNBS/CBS Marketwatch reader who never saw behind what was presented as the party line. During the 2007/2008 crisis, I saw that first "blip" in the matrix. I realized that what was being presented to me had a foul odor to it. I didn't know exactly how to characterize it, I just had this instinctual feeling that a lot of stats and data I was looking at just did not make any sense anymore.

I poked around the blogosphere, looking for alternative views. Most of these lacked cogency. UNTIL I came here, and in addition to this a few other sites as well, where there was open discussion about the rotten underpinnings to what is to become the most insidious bubble in the history of modern finance. FINALLY a discussion that was not trying to stir up apocalyptic fervor or internet jackassery, but rather was a level headed commentary that FINALLY addressed cogently the reasons for the obviously high levels of fiction in asset pricing.

A whole new world opened. I SPECIFICALLY thank you for the time and patience you have taken in some of your posts to explain your insights in a systematic, step by step fashion, that allowed newbies like me to take in the content. You probably could have made your points using a few sentences of condensed jargon, but you have always made a point of using extra verbiage lay your points out in well spoken logic that appeals even to non-financial readers. I have shared your posts with friends and family, and the extra time you have taken to make your posts accessible and logical are a credit to your efforts.

Thank you.

THANK YOU, KARL, for all your thoughts and efforts placed into this forum.

I believe that you have, for some, built a very close knit family within the confines of this "Blogsphere". You as the head, you, who has guided the path of educating for those who are constantly doused with misinformation.

Just want you to know that you are always welcome in my home on this country's left coast. If you do not mind a cot with your sleeping bag, you can come and stay with us and share our food.

On a net basis this should reduce my "income footprint" to be within the "Screw You Uncle Sam" range. The comment capacity on The Ticker will be commensurately reduced, as I have observed that for the most part those who are not donors to the system comprise the vast majority of inane (or worse) comments. But for those who can form a cogent opinion and use logic, your input to the discussion will still be possible.

It would appear that all is not lost. There will still Tickers and commenting thereon at some reduced level.

Dear Karl:

I wish you well. I do recommend Uruguay and have a friend that would literally meet you at the airport should you ever consider moving South. I derive zero anything from recommending this, but for what its worth I can refer you to the relevant reputable lawyers, real estate agent, etc.

Its the least I can do.

Good luck in your endeavors.

Ps- I would have your back AND reload ;)

Karl,

I want to add my thanks for all you've done here over the years. Any detail I could add, others have already expressed more eloquently above.

And that's the singular greatness of your creation here - not just your own integrity and intellectual prowess, but that which you've encouraged in others. The sum of that makes this place unique in its constructive power, and has benefitted me in ways which have changed my life, and called me to clean up my act. Now, even my foolish setbacks in that regard feel positive - you have taught me to think in serious terms about the data that reality provides.

It seems to me that TF has been intellectual history in the making. I feel privileged and blessed to have had access to it. The little flag you were kind enough to place by my handle stands as one of my life's cherished honors; I feel proud that you deem my small acts worthy of recognition in this milieu.

May fortune continue to favor you and yours.

Many here have said "Thank you" to Karl much better than I will ever be able to. Many of you, as well as Karl, have provided me with much to mediate on, however dimly.

Thank you one and all, for showing me the Different Paths.

And though I oft have passed them by,
