The most accurate term of art used for applications of AI/ML, in my opinion, is inference. That was at least the case for companies I dealt with that were serious as opposed to those looking to be on the latest black-box buzzword train. It seems to be on a 2 decade hype cycle with the possible exclusion of the aughts. They're skipping the LISP machines this cycle, and there's not really an analogue I can think of.
