I had a thought occur to me this morning about another longer term issue being created out of the current pandemic, and the outrageous fear mongering by our "betters" / leadership.

One thing being massively instilled in society today is the massive fear of germs & virus bugs. All this 'sanitize this, clean that, scrub those down' stuff is going to have some serious blowback at a future date. Many parents already were terrified of little Johnny or Jane going to the playground and picking up germs - so they sanitize and clean to the point that little Johnny and little Jane NEVER build up antibodies for many common diseases. Many of them get and stay sick much more and longer than those of us who grew in the times when our parents told us to go out and play in the mud and took us to friends houses when they got Chicken Pox, so we could too - and get it over with.

The blowback I see is that if society continues this compulsive sanitizing of seating, doors, checkout stands, and everything else that moves - and doesn't - is that as a society, we won't be able to build up antibodies for the common diseases and virus that exist virtually everywhere.

We will continue to devolve as a society and population to the point that when what should be a quite survivable contagion (as this one actually appears to be), will actually be devastating. Maybe not next generation - but possibly the following one. We are probably actually seeing some of the influence of the "clean obsession" of the last decade or so, right now....
