The stockholders own the corporation. The stockholders are people. The stockholders have rights. They include the right to band together to purchase an amplifier. The corruption issue is not caused by corporations buying issue or candidate ads, fully disclosed as to who's paying. The corruption is caused by various interests and bundled contributions that go directly to candidates. It is already illegal for interest advertising to coordinate, and that's fine. But restricting speech is both wrong and doesn't solve the problem. If it worked we'd not have a problem now, right? Well, go look at opensecrets.org and see who's funding these campaigns! I want the speech and speakers out in the open - spend all you want but identify who you are and speak directly - no giving money to candidates behind the wall. 2010-01-22 10:15:36
