Keeping Your Car Running For Less

Be aware @Mjeff87 that if you put a Fumoto valve on the vehicle no oil change place will touch it. Sarah found that out the hard way and wound up doing multiple changes while out on an extended run crawling underneath. Good thing its a truck and she's small and thus fits without ramps or similar.

Their argument? "It might leak and we can't torque the drain bolt." Oh go fuck yourselves; none of those places actually use a torque wrench on the drain bolt, I've seen several stripped, and none of them other than the dealer have the new crush washers which on the aluminum pan engines, that's most of them, are typically there and they're aluminum and one-time-use because you can't re-anneal them unlike copper -- and if you don't change it out for a new one it is guaranteed to leak at least a little bit.

Assholes.

On Sarah's VW TDI I always pull it out with an oil sucker as the filter is changed from the TOP (cannister style); its fast, easy, you do get it all and no ramps required either. The drain bolt has LITERALLY never been out of the pan and the engine has close to 300,000 miles on it!
