Nope...

@Raven
Don't assume. My daughter is not highly paid. She's earning her PhD. I believe I said something to the effect that she works with AI. She is not studying AI or in the field at all. Not important enough to go back and check.

Karl, what are your thoughts regarding Yudkowsky's proposal as articulated in his Op-Ed of March 29, 2023:

( https://time.com/6266923/ai-eliezer-yudk.... )

to enforce prohibition, with extreme prejudice, of any actors pursuing development of an advanced AI system with the potential / goal of "independent discovery"

Ineffective.

Ineffective because (a) nobody will agree to it, and (b) the same problems @Neal raised, if we did it, somebody like Chyna won't give a shit and will do it anyway. And distantly, (c) some asshole somewhere in his basement isn't going to stop trying.

Any of these liabilities will likely be used only as a barrier to entry for newer non-entrenched industry players. The too big to sanction crowd will continue via regulatory capture and lobbying to operate with impunity.

The disclosure will become another wall of text to be quickly agreed to and cleared off the user's screen similar to the EULA.

Pandora has already opened the box and we may already be past the event horizon of the Sci-Fi dystopian future.

In order to demonstrate intelligence,
they have the AI write poetry and fiction.
Isn't fiction . . . a lie.

So, one of the first things they program the AI to do is lie.

And everyone is fine with this premise?
hahahahaha

@Sraven

No, AI writing fiction is not lying. AI can generate stories based on data, but it does not necessarily mean that the stories are true. AI can create stories based on facts, but it does not necessarily mean that the stories are false either. AI can create stories that are imaginative and creative, and these stories may contain elements of truth or fiction.-GPT

One thing that absolutely must also be enforced is that any company/person providing access to communications can not have anything invested into the AI arena in any capacity.

Violate this rule expect to have all corporate and private assets seized and serve a 50 year prison term without parole. Somebody dies then every executive is executed too.

This stuff is that dangerous. I would put out bounties for heads of foreign actors engaged in this crap.

Still our greatest enemy is the government intent on using it against its own citizens.

There's all sorts of derivative issues that get raised by this kind of thing. Who owns the copyright on an AI derived thing? And what about all the entries that went into the AI that made it able to generate that thing? How about the copyrights on those? And were they appropriately licensed? Of course not.

I've read some news articles recently that sound like they were written by chat gpt.

They were even worse than normal journalist output.

The derivative issue is not funny either. If somebody registered, for example a photograph simply by sending in a copyright application which is a $25 fee they could come after you for statutory damages and hammer the hell out of the owner of the AI. This is not a trivial matter. Statutory damages are not funny and enough to screw you no matter who you are.
