It's clear now and should have been obvious from the start that the Jabs can not produce lasting durable protection. As Karl says, the antibodies only recognize one part of the virus, the part that changes most readily. I've resorted to using analogies. Though really I've just given up on most people.

Bears are dangerous if they get close to you. Since they move around on their paws, I taught my kids to recognize bear tracks. I never showed them a picture of a real bear. I didn't even describe what a bear looks like. But that's OK because they will know if bears are nearby by looking for tracks. It can't fail.

My one and only concern with this anti bear plan is that tracks can get tricky to identify if you're on dry ground or rocks or if rain and snow wash them out. They might look very different from the perfect example of a black bear print I showed them in the textbook. Grizzly prints can look quite a bit different too. But that's a minor concern.

My plan is so perfect that I never taught my kids to carry bear spray. I didn't teach them to make loud noises to deter the bears or how to defend themselves should an attack happen. I did tell them to cover their heads with a cloth to disguise themselves from bears when they go out in the woods. But if a bear comes close despite all these efforts, there is absolutely nothing you can do. Just hope someone can get you to a hospital after the damage has been done.
