EBT, thanks for posting. Linus Pauling popularized lysing with vitamin C to prevent build up in the coronary artery. Since the coronary artery takes the most stress (it's next to the heart) it suffers cracks and tears. If insufficient collagen building material is not available (lysine and proline) and not enough ascorbate to hydroxylate them, circulating Lp-a will bind to the frayed ends of the damaged collagen fibers to patch it up...
