Breakthroughs in physics will take care of themselves, if it is to be. Right now you're living in a place that is about three minutes, evolution-wise, from monkeys in trees. There won't be meaningful progress towards the planets or stars as long as there is this level of infighting amongst the residents of this planet. Look anywhere; please prove me wrong. Star Trek is the aspiration; pick any one of a hundred dystopian outcomes that are much more likely to be realized because we can't work together, keep killing ourselves and our neighbors, and this is by design and encouraged by the psychopaths running humanity.
