I've only been admitted to a hospital twice in my life. The first time was when I was 6-7 to have my tonsils removed. That was in the days (late 1950's) when they were still using ether for anesthesia. The other time I was in my late 30's and was admitted for a day after going to the emergency room at 2 a.m. for severe back pain which turned out to be a kidney stone. The stone dropped into my bladder after they pumped me full of fluids to flush it out and I was released. Haven't needed a hospital in the 30 years since.|
My late mother more than made up for my lack of need for hospitals. My dad, on the other hand, is now 88 and I don't remember him ever being admitted to a hospital for anything. Must be all that self medication with ethanol products.
