The forum is the first thing I click on in the morning to get my daily dose of reality, however sobering it might be. Its been a privilege to be able to read your articles every day. You have opened my eyes to so many things in the short time I have been here, and given me the knowledge and strength to opt out wherever I can. My DH is beginning to come on board, now that he realizes that the things I have been talking about for the last several years are now becoming obvious. I have much respect for you in how you have chosen to raise your daughter. Priorities, when chosen for the right reason, are much more rewarding than what money can buy. Personally, we are doing all we can to starve the beast. A year ago, I quit a job I hated, and am doing some low key work from home. We have opted out of all media except for internet, have no debt, shop at resale shops, and I drive a 13 year old car with no desire to get a new one. We seldom eat out, and have had a backyard garden for the past 3 years now. We are constantly looking for more ways to opt out. There is a rush of free feeling as we find ways to shed the chains of slavery. Many of our friends and family think we are nuts, but I know we are much happier and less stressed than they are. In fact, it's become quite fun to see the reactions of people when they find out how "abnormal" we are. 2013-09-29 23:52:04
