The CR, as Karl mentioned, does not reduce the deficit. According to Trump, it will give the Congress six months to put some real spending bills together. Where have we heard that before. In another six months, there will be another CR.

While Trump is supposedly reducing the size of the government worker army, he does not have the Congress aiding him in this effort. Furthermore, there is no indication that he intends to actually cut spending in the areas where it really matters. Or to enforce the medical monopoly laws.

Also, Trump and the Rs now own the Ukraine war and its outcome as he effectively has restarted the flow of weapons and funding that's supposed to encourage the Russian acceptance of a ceasefire. Add to that the mess in the ME, and Trump has a foreign policy mess that he must work to clean up fast.

I'm happy to see many of the things that Trump has done unilaterally via EOs, but many of them will not stick and if we are in a stagflation recession right before the midterms, Trump loses the House and Senate.
