The people in charge, aka Trump and associates can get the information they need from the internet as well. The fact that you have been banging the drum on this for many years ( decades) cannot be lost on them. There has to be a reason why they don't simple follow existing laws and let the chips fall where they may.

I'm sure hubris plays a big roll since the type of person to take charge is full of it along with a large sense of mental superiority. Why bother taking the position in the first place if you are already rich and connected. Maybe at the end of the day to think they will be eaten last and have a golden parachute that drops them anywhere but into the crocodiles mouth.
