Karl you mentioned strong winds off the pacific ocean whipping up the fires. The winds in this case are actually out of the east and periodically they blow in southern CA. 40 to 60mph winds are common when the Santa Ana or more accurately the Santana winds blow. The winds are very warm and they blow hard for a few days pretty much every year. Fire is always a concern when these winds blow. This current situation is good reminder that being "FROM CA" is a good thing. I grew up in NE LA. In the area where the Eaton fire is currently out of control. I am thankful to be away from that place.
