I'm always amused that when gasoline and diesel prices increase, the talking heads all claim that the latest high inflation numbers were mostly due to gas prices. As we all know, that's due to OPEC, the Russians meddling in Ukraine, tensions in Israel, Iran shooting missiles, whatever. So it doesn't really count. It's out of our control. Really, everything is a-ok. Then when gas prices dip the talking point immediately shifts to "inflation is under control! Things are moving in the right direction."
