Last night I went down a rabbit hole on YouSlob watching TicTok videos of people whining about inflation. Not always the brightest bulbs but I'd wager a good cross section of everyday Americans. Lots and lots of people showing their grocery receipts and what it bought. It was also revealing that many had already cut back on buying things like meat or name brand stuff, with plenty saying things like "this $100 will feed my family for 3 days tops" or "I'm scared" etc. etc.

I don't think any avg Joe/Jane believes the 2.1% print. What are they going to do about it?? Likely vote for more freebies.

I am wondering if the BLS is trying to trigger a stabilization or decrease in interest rates. Since the gov't service on the debt is becoming a larger part of the budget, they are trying to slow or lower that outlay from the US Treasury?

ASX200 flew up 1.5% on the news (nothing else)

None of the commentators mentioned that 4% YoY growth comes on the back of double digit growth we've had previously. We need consecutive NEGATIVE inflation to get back to a suitable baseline for COL.
