 Time to CUT OFF China

Freedom of speech is not a universal concept and I bet the Chinese view stopping That Thing from landing as a self-preservation and anti-attacker move, not limiting speech. Russia "let" our other Thing, Nuland, speak and hand out cookies on the Maidan, and look where that got them.

And if anything I think we could learn from these two nations about filtering free speech through the lens of what's best for your country: yes Russia limits LGBT free speech by denying them parades, but look what our unfettered approach to allowing treasonous and society-destroying free speech over the past few decades has gotten us. I mean we actually have Transgender Story Hour in some of our libraries and on some bases!!
So sorry, not trying to get banned and hope I don't, but I'm still questioning whether China successfully stopping It from landing and speaking is something we should consider a slippery slope encroachment on our autonomy as a nation. And beyond even this, half the damn country (Tailand) wants unification, anyway!

Quite frankly your moronic executive and parliament deserve everything that is coming their way. Just as the utter cretins in Brussels deserve all the brown stuff that is coming their way. And I do not think it is going to be pretty.

The gloves are coming off and it is going to get tasty.

And just so you do not think I am gloating, the UK is going to be equally shafted with Liz Truss as PM. Very dim and most dangerous.

A country cannot be a true super power unless it is self sufficient in producing enough food to feed its people, is energy independent and has the required natural resources/minerals to meet its manufacturing needs.

Only two countries are probably capable of doing this, the USA and Russia, maybe Canada (they are too small population wise to matter).

There is a Chinese saying, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now". We the USA should have stopped relying on China to manufacturer much of our critical goods a long time ago, but here we are. We need to stop now and endure the pain and get through it.

No doubt China retaliates if the USA takes the necessary steps to get free of reliance on China, problem for China, without the USA, good luck to them feeding their people.

"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now."

Ironically... the time to cut them off really was about 20 years ago, in 2001 in response to China's first overt act of war, forcing a US P3 to crash, seizing the contents, and imprisoning the crew.

Though I often argue the right time may have been during the Clinton malaise three years earlier, when the PLA's annual posture report first openly referred to the US with the word "enemy".

We missed a great opportunity to bring back manufacturing in 2020 during Covid. Could have done it under the political cover of, "our trade partners are still our partners but we need to make sure we can take care of ourselves should this ever happen again....". We could have provided tax incentives to do so (and I disagree with handing these corporations money, but..."the greater good...").

Instead we pissed away money by closing businesses, handing out money in all directions, and are exactly where we were before all that ...but more in debt.

I have no faith these knuckleheads and knuckledraggers in politics will make the right moves and get their heads out of their asses.

They don't even push smart legislation anymore.

All giveaways and bulls!t.

"Bring everything home? Absolutely! We're all going to have to go local to survive the upcoming economic collapse. Our governments and corporations will work against us at every turn. They are the cancer which has to go. Our fight is with them, not the Chinese or the Russians."

Absolutely true. Karl's idea of tariffs to level the playing field should be mandatory. BUT really we need to do away with corporations . . . or at least with multinational corporations. Need to figure out a way that people can invest in partnerships. Corporate leaders have no skin in the game but have all the power to cause real problems.

The US is already in enough pain from the direct buffoonery regarding energy and the economy.

It was no accident these threats were made.

How are factories to operate without proper energy or energy infrastructure as being pushed by insane and suicidal US politicians?

The CCCP is a parasite intent on killing and ultimately replacing its host. And the feckless Western nations are responsible for allowing this outcome.

...to hell with Nixon and Kissinger for bringing the eggs of this parasite to the USA. It didn't take long for that sucking sound to be heard as the life's blood of national GDP for the economy got sucked away as jobs and entire factories disappeared.

Stop allowing Chinese nationals from going to school in the USA and block the ability to seek jobs in the USA. The same goes for India. Our kids don't have a chance under such corruption. It's nothing but a plan for chain migration. For the most part it is a way for the CCCP to place its agents.

Add to that the corrupt cronyism pretending to be capitalism and the host is dead. The mental state of the host country is not healthy to start.

Seize the real assets like farmland first. Starve the parasites. Biden deserves to be skinned alive for selling even one ounce of oil to nations as China.

An initially starving populace is a hard to control population. The USA as a whole allowed this first through deception then later nothing but complacency as everyone wanted their slice of the pie by stealing from everyone else.

This doesn't not end well. It used to be real men would die for values in which they believed knowing the alternative was fundamentally worse. Something of this is not fixed by a single voice or lone wolf. The true collective soul of the nation must want it.

Unfortunately politicians these days are more intent on creating internal factions more focused on themselves as the selfish and delusional alphabet people then addressing issues that truly affect the health of the entire nation.

Doing all that would collapse China and the CCP in particular very quickly. So quickly that they might declare war. Any thoughts?

Regarding tax incentives: every tax paid by a corporation/business is ultimately one you feel in your wallet.

The wealthy never pay taxes and the poor cannot. There is that middle class though.

@Vernonb you'll never block ChiComs from the US job market. I'm in IT which means we're plagued by offshore contractors, and perhaps 7 years ago I noticed an absolute flood of Chinese names in the corporate directory -- all hired through Indian contracting agencies.

They'll find a way, as long as corps sell out American jobs to the lowest bidder.
