Most of the people at the company I work at are either obese or look general ratty, and we're supposed to be a Gen-X/Millennial company. For some strange reason, a lot of the people seem to have aged significantly just in the past year. Gee...I wonder why.

We're looking at big time water shortages this year in California. Those dams that are supposed to give us water for 3-5 years of poor weather are very low this year. Why? Because bureaucrats send a large portion of that water right out to sea because the fishies need their habitat- humans be damned. In turn, the government tells farmers: "No water for you!" in a Soup Nazi kind of way.

Been feeling the say way as Karl for awhile and doing a little bit at a time to prepare. Too many coincidences to not be a planned take down. Got my first gun a S&W 9mm a year ago and been practicing ever since. Got some storable food and doing other things to prepare but if they shut down the power grid I'm screwed. I guess it's time to use my S&W at that point.

It does seem everything Karl points to can all be summed up with demography. The West (actual western people) are probably already in decline population wise and importing third worlders not only wont work it even seems the declines are finally spreading to them as well when it comes to fertility. So what does a world look like with declining infrastructure, shrinking population. with the doers shrinking the most first, which will inevitably spread to the leeches and their ability to reproduce. Can we automate ourselves out of this demographic hell headed our way? At least Japan had some advantages (homogenous population) that wont be available for the west as this hits us.

@Crossthread: "...We are Rome.."

probably more of a cross between late Rome and Weimar Germany. Gee, wonder why Hitler came to power?

I'm sure watching Baltimore burn as the hood can't afford food will be interesting to watch at first. Afterwards, not so much (and I live 2 blocks from police HQ).

Two calls for a leader! Problem is, I don't see any on the horizon that I could trust. None from the two major political parties. Anyone have any candidates?

Wow, thats a big one TG.

I've been trying to come to grips at the ridiculousness of our clownworld. Trying to understand the why. So many different absurdities we are all expected to swallow. To what purpose?

I bought a farm at 30, bought a camper to live in, built a house raised a family. At 58, I can produce all the food the family needs, and eat like kings. I've got the ability to store it for long periods without outside power. I can heat the place in the winter, and I've got springs that never dry up.

However I'm very cognizant of the one thing I have no control over. The government can take it all if they choose and all I can do is die trying to stop them.

I knew this country was done for about 10 years ago when I saw a 20-something guy at a bar wearing Spiderman socks.

What I want know is what happens to companies like Apple without their snicker licking dyke and bone smoking ****** employees, let alone customers? No one needs to answer that. I just want to be able to say "snicker licking dyke" and "bone smoking ******" in an online forum without fear of getting banned for violating "community standards."

@ Quantum,

It's called the "Overton Window" and the shift has been happening for a long time, the last decade on fast-forward. Certain genders and races tend to have a proclivity to vote for freebies, or more accurately, vote for those who promise them. They are seemingly incapable of understanding there is no Santa Claus.

Oh well.

I disagree. Elections will keep the masses satiated. With mail-in ballots and electronic voting machines, IMHO our rulers will never lose another election of significance.

If elections are eliminated, that will wake up the masses and our rulers do not want that to happen.

I don't think I mentioned this before, but I'm currently working on a fiction book for the 10-15 year old age group to help them understand the world we live in and that it's up to them (the characters yes, but really hopefully the readers take it to heart themselves) that they need to be the change we need.

Through a different realm, they are told that the Earth is EOLT's (Extinguisher of Light and Truth) and that everybody born there is by default going to follow EOLT's ways. They are given rings by OSOLT (Original Source of Light and Truth) where they can see either the darkened essences/souls of people (real or screen) or the lighter essences/souls of those who found and follow OSOLT's ways...in other words born again. They will understand the true meaning of the word in the story I hope. There's more to it, but it's the gist.

Today's kids in this age group do have influence over their parents in terms of purchasing power etc. They can ask God to help them, strengthen them, give them wisdom, to do the hard things that the country needs to survive. Perhaps a leader will arise from this young group. I do know God wins in the end and for that reason, although prepared for a few months to a half year (maybe) when the SHTF, for now I choose to live happily and as stress free as possible. I'm prepared, what else can I do? God will direct my steps from there.

Indeed. History might not repeat but it does rhyme. The same ethnic group who ran Weimar Germany now run the USA and they have a burning hatred for heritage Americans. There may be a retired US army corporal with great oratorical skills waiting on the sidelines for his time to act.

Years ago, I worked a party where all US senators were present. They all got along with one another like they were drinking buddies. Someone remarked in yesterday's posts that CONgress is like the World Wrestling Federation, it's all a show and no real contest is happening.
A jewish acquaintance once referred to insurance fires as jewish lightning. I wonder how many of the food processing plant fires are accidents and how many are "jewish lightning".
Government has created the conditions for many of our current woes.
The 1965 immigration act has produced a diverse population with differences that are politically exploitable, making a national consensus impossible.
Our constant wars and bullying of foreign governments has bankrupted us and created a lot of hostility to America.
The covid lockdowns destroyed a lot of businesses, the work ethic, and the jabs have likely debilitated much of the population.
The exportation of our manufacturing capacity has made our society vulnerable to the whims of foreigners.
Our efforts to unseat the elected government of Russia and put a looter-friendly puppet in power has resulted in a hot war in the Ukraine with possible catastrophic results to America. The attendant sanctions will result in agricultural shortages with higher food and energy prices worldwide.
The government's energy policies will result in a decline in national output, shortages, and inflation.
But this is an election year and voting for the right man or woman (if said gender determination is possible in national politics) will make it all better. They're going to kiss our national ouchies and make them go away.

90% drivel. Especially the concept that the coming food scarcity and high prices were intentional.

As has been written by our host many times, no one in power wants their people hungry. Hunger is the great unifier of people. One of their core goals is to not only keep us divided, but increase the divide, and the vehemence on all sides.

Most of what has been happening is simply hubris, ignorance, and self serving perversion of offices and agencies leading us to ruin. A major factor is that the string pullers are "intellectuals" who have never done anything in their lives, and either didn't know, or didn't care about the ramifications of their actions outside of what they see as benefits.

Society is being organized so it is harder and harder not to sin.

All societies have their problems, just read the Bible or a history book. This is because man is fallen, and therefore no perfect society is possible. We're all sinners.

But at least at certain points in history, some polities tried to organize the public sphere to be more in line with God's law -- to encourage what is right, to try to have some semblance of justice, to try to discourage what is wrong.

But the changes we've been seeing in the US (and the world generally) for generations now, are moving civilization further and further away from God's law (and natural law). The lines of right and wrong, even of reality and unreality, are being blurred not just culturally but formally in the legal sphere, too -- making it harder and harder for individuals to know what is right, and try to live accordingly.

Nowadays it seems a lot of kids grow up not really understanding the difference between what is right and what is wrong. At least in the past, in Christian civilization, there were clear standards -- even if most everybody violated them one way or another.

In some places today, Christianity is almost de facto outlawed. The Bible is considered "hate speech". I heard about a Christian pastor in Canada being arrested for reading the Bible aloud, and I think in Finland the former Interior Minister was criminally charged for posting a Bible verse on Facebook.

And basic rights are being taken away. I saw a video of a British man being arrested in London for reading passages from Churchill's autobiography aloud in public -- again, considered hate speech.

And yet the "world democracy rankings" score these northern European and North American countries as the most pure and functional democracies, while complaining of "democratic backsliding" and "illiberal populism" in countries like Hungary.

My youngest son, 31, told me

"This is like the fall of the Roman Empire but with Wi-Fi"

until we don't.

Lead time for EVERYTHING to keep petrochem and POWER PLANTS running has been increasing since 2020. A co-worker mentioned that even the lowly, standard-spec PRESSURE GAUGE now has weeks to months lead time quoted.

About "those who make things work", we've seen more than one not-gray-haired start-up person show up for a site visit and destroy a brand new multi-million dollar machine due to lack of experience and lack of knowledge. One fired up a huge compressor and did not bother to confirm that bearing-lubricating oil had been put in it. Now his name is "He don't work here no more" as stated by his former employer. They should've put yellow tape on his ass like NOOSEcar puts on rookie driver bumpers so experienced maintenance folks at the facility would double check everything said rookie is missing prior to start-ups.

Wife now understands why we are getting a manual, hand-pump put in our well next to the electric one.

So many do not see what is coming.

This article is eye opening to someone like myself with no real world experience. I knew a guy from South Africa once well enough that he could speak frankly about the situation there. There really are just fundamentally incompatible peoples and cultures. And we will pay hard if we refuse to acknowledge that and take the necessary steps to protect ourselves and our posterity.

I'm a geezer that fixes things for a living. Trust me, it's not getting any better anytime soon. From the people that do the programming for the machinery to the people who sweep the floors, and all the people that manage them, the incompetence is staggering.

Sorry @tappedout, but I disagree. They want us hungry and afraid so they can pretend to save us with their GMO poison. Too many are afraid to do what is necessary to keep our rights in this country. Look at Canada! Coming soon to a neighborhood near you. Too many fat cows wanting to walk around ignorant and virtue signaling...believing it can not happen here. Too late, the barbarians have breached the castle walls and walk among us.

KD: "There is a LOT of non-planted AG land out here right now..."

Moved rural on Superbowl Sunday 1993.

Large field across the road has been alternating beans and corn every year...until this year.

Unless the farmer is really late planting (field is high ground, so not too wet to work it) there will only be weeds this year.

The hand well-pump we installed for Y2K may turn out to not have been a waste of cash.
