Dunno about your concept of "real women" and i am loath to put women down for the sake of it alone. Many women, even of high achievement, do have the temptation to trap via pregnancy for a variety of reasons. Others there is a subconscious drive which i believe in the aftermath that we are discussing here is revealed and mitigated.

Both my spouse and mother were very high caliber people as were many others that i knew. Both of the first and many of the others were very self-aware, a true gift and rare in a lot of women in this regard. Yielded some insights and helped to understand some of the delightful compromises that functional cultures make to live with themselves. we are no longer functional. Also helped me to validate some suspicions based upon the advice that i was given by men helping me to become one.

What percentage of pregnancies are unplanned gives insight into how pervasive these tendencies truly are. The problem is that we as a society at one time had a vested interest in repressing honesty to achieve this result and then when faced with the less desirable results came up with palliatives and acceptance of dysfunctionality to not admit our fault. And, people forgot what normal was. Most importantly they do not know historically what normal really was even in the more modern eras, and worse ...

they cannot bring themselves to face it as they would have to accept their own needs and desires as being normal, and that they were once part of everyday knowledge and routine practice of high character people who ultimately had very good relationships.

Denying facts does not make them any less true. Neither does not knowing them.
