the grid could fail. The only plan I had was, if the lights went out, get the hell out.

Years ago, I read this dystopian novel by John Wesley Rawles that seemed quite believable -- at least way more believable than most of that dystopian stuff. (I normally don't touch that stuff, but Rawles's non-fiction work had earned my respect.)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/145169024....

One of the things he brought out in this book is that the most well-armed, well-networked, AND amoral (thus, no inhibitions) people in the big cities are the GANGS. They will not go quietly into the night. When the grid goes down, the gangs will rule. Normal citizens, however well-armed they might be, will lose to the gangs in most cases since they're not organized, as the gangs are, AND they're not heartless and diabolical, as the gangstas are. Gangstas don't bat an eye at doing things no normal person would do. Even in normal times, they shoot people FOR FUN.

In Rawles's novel, the gangs take everything they want in the cities, and when that all runs out, they fan out into the countryside seeking resources. And of course killing everyone who gets in their way.

I find this very plausible. A few years ago, here in Kansas, homes in McPherson, an hour's drive from Wichita, were being broken into by Wichita gangs. And that's in "normal" times. Just kind of a preview.

So, even though I myself live even further put from Wichita (and let's not even talk about Topeka and Kansas City), I have no illusions that I am much safer than my friends in the cities. It might take the bad guys a little longer to get to me, but they're coming eventually.

So the sensible thing to do (if you believed in these damn injections in the first place) would be to design the "booster" shots to deal with delta, right? But are they even doing that? Or are they just mulishly injecting people with the same damn thing over and over?

NOTHING in this whole mess has had the slightest whiff of scientific rigor or competence in it, let alone ethics or concern for people.

Yes, if boosters become a thing, I expect to see posts from these morons to the effect:

Happy to get booster #6. Deltoid rotted off. Proof the vax is working!!

Karl, I read this ticker to my husband last night. I was surprised that he said it resonated with him. He has always been the go to tech guy at any job he has held. He has been out sick less than 5 times in the last 30 years. He told me last night that he had checked out of his job. The insanity and the Sword of Damocles that has been hanging over his head for the last few months has exhausted him. He will put in his hours as long as they keep him, but he said if they laid him off tomorrow he would be happy.

Heartlander, re gangs

This is exactly my calculation.

Hopefully local armed militias will spring up to protect regular populations from the depredations of gangs. It may well be pretty lawless out there.

Especially for those who don't have land on which to bury valuables, important documents, etc. Not to mention food supplies.

Just a thought...

IANAL, but if an employer is so deeply concerned for the safety of its' employees to go so far as to mandate a vaccine, isn't it now LIABLE to protect them from ALL communicable diseases, and do they have plans and procedures in place to account for this?

Sounds very expensive...

People in suburbs or countryside dont have to worry about roving city gangs. Guns are great equalizers. And a man fighting to protect his family is much more determined that some hood rat looking to score.

The biggest threat will be from your own unprepared neighbors and friends.

The hammer fell the first of the month here. Get jabbed or get tested every THREE ****ing days. I go into my workroom in the basement and set up my laptop. Have to log into a website and get watched taking this damn test. Then I get a QR code that says I'm clean.

At work they have this Checkpoint Charlie you have to go through. Put your mask on, go to a desk, flash your papers, get an armband (oops, I mean wristband), actually card into the building lobby, go to a ****ing temperature scanner and get scanned, and card in again to the facility. It's a chore just to get into the building to work. And I'm not getting there early to make up for it. Funny as hell, they just look at the QR code. It could be off of a ****ing dog food bag for all they know.

I'm hoping some semblance of sanity returns but I'm guessing that won't happen. I'm hoping they're smart and keep the testing option on the table as much as it sucks. Not sure how many would walk but I would be amongst their number. I'm trying to hang on here but I'm worried they're going to go for full jab. When is O**** (OSHA) making a decision on this?

I feel bad, the last two weeks I have done some great process development work and it may be my swan song at this employer. Go out on a high note I guess.

I think these politicians and corporations need to reassess their situation. Remember the movie Fight Club? Remember when they drag that police commissioner into the bathroom and threaten to cut his balls off if he doesn't call of the investigation into Project Mayhem? The profligates in DC keep ramming this country into the ground and putting people out of work, celebrating the destruction of peoples careers for not getting jabbed. They're enjoying this. 99 people out of a hundred are going to take it when they get ****ed by uncle bad touches' mandate. But that one guy that doesn't is all it ****ing takes. And they're going to realize they, and the people they care about, don't have enough security to ever truly be safe. Hell, some of the hired guns may "help" if someone gets froggy and decides to even up the score.

Again, something for them to think about.

I have also heard about nattokinase for people negatively affected by the vaxx spike protein. Note the various cautions in the article and of course, as Karl often reminds us, approach all meds and supplements with caution -- particularlt with respect to timing and quantity -- but still.... I seem to keep hearing nattokinase mentioned in this context.

These guys just need to go on strike. They need to stop ****ing around and just go on strike.

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/sout....

We need the kind of strikes I used to see on TV when I was a child (1970's) over this covid-19 madness. If the APA doesn't back them, then the pilots need to start a new union.

What astonishes me about Southwest is that there is no way Herb Kelleher would have ever gone for this vaccine mandate if he were still alive to run the airline.

Off topic, but not off topic.

This is from November 2020. The NIH with Benito Faucci at the helm were crying about how early treatments were urgently needed to end the pain and suffering of Covid 19.

Bull ****ING ****!!!!!

One year on and no new developments. Just the same old failed in hospital bull**** after it's too late. The same old bought-and-paid-for politicians. The same old Big Brother Pharma profiting mightily at the taxpayers' expense all the while sheltered from any and all liability. The same old bounty on your dattered carcass if you get admitted to hospital. An even bigger bounty if you pop your clogs while in that same old sodden **** hole.

It's hard to believe this is really happening, but it is.

This is really happening folks.

This rant is but the tip of the iceberg.

I think some folks should start a kitty. There's a bounty on our collective asses. Why not return the favor? How about a GO FUND ME?

See, my view is you don't submit anything. You just refuse. If you reply at all its with something like this:

"Under EEOC guidance I am informing you that this is your <X>th attempt to inquire of personal, private medical information which you have no right to possess. This constitutes harassment and disciplinary action, or further and more-pointed inquiry taken upon my refusal to respond can be, under the law considered constructive and unlawful termination."

I've seen legal advice that says these exemption forms are a "trap" for employers to gather evidence that your religious beliefs are not "sincere". If they aren't "sincere", then they can legally reject them.

I understand that fewer words are probably better when making an exemption claim-- not a request as I've learned from you :), but what do you think would happen if an employee made a religious claim, and added a lengthy jeremiad to it which details all the BS?

If the claim is valid, I don't think they can lawfully reject it because of the other stuff, right?
