@ Karenica "I think that they assume that people who are vaccinated will universally support these mandates."

I think that is a bad assumption. I have talked with several vaccinated folks and they are against the mandate. Most are all scratching their heads as why we are so afraid of the unvaccinated.....

My company is a Federal Contractor as we do work for the gov't. Senior leadership is sitting back to let this play out in the courts and are not saying anything officially. They are scared to death as we can't get enough folks as it is to run our equipment. If only 3 % of our workforce quits/retires or is fired the company is ****ed. We have already been paying for cutting to deep in years past. The current situation is almost unsustainable even before Xiden's charade last night

@Heartlander

I understand completely how you feel. It's impossibly painful to see people you love blinded by the madness around us. Since I am now completely alone and will continue to be for the foreseeable future, I've had to harden my heart just to survive. I'm sorry if you found my tone too harsh. I hope you still have people you love and who love you.

Pisses me off but does not surprise me that Gov. Dewine of Ohio has not joined the red states in opposing this.

TG, as far as the Rs confirming a new VP (likely Hillary), you forgot that some of them are really Ds -- for example Romney. I have no doubt he would vote for HRC, Stacy Abrams, or any other leftist that kneepads would nominate.

Seeing as most of America lives paycheck to paycheck, the odds of people saying F it and quitting are slim to none. Sure some will, but not enough to matter. People talk big, but they will comply when paycheck is on the line.

I started reading TF and ZH at about the same time over a decade ago. I'm sure KD got a slight kick out of the mention and link, but honestly ZH is trash for the most part. Too bad too, years ago it was a great site.

@Mariaw, masks are 99% worthless in and out. The virus particles are 0.2 microns. Nothing short of a properly fitted N95 will stop sub micron particles. Yes, they will stop droplets to a degree, but most of the virus is not in droplets.

On a side note, seems like an unusual number of first time posters to this thread.

@Jw. and @Stof - None of the people in corporate America have REALLY thought ANY of this through. They all think they're Gods and can **** people with impunity, and most of the time they get away with it too. But what they really are is more-akin to Kings or Dukes, but damn near ALL of them (AND their spouses and kids!) are unwilling to leave home or office only with a phalanx of armed muscle, including an advance team at all times, because if you do that you can't go into the nice swanky steak place with your wife -- you have to rent the entire joint because you have no idea if the dude at the table next to you intends to blow your head off and slipped the Maitre d' in the front a couple of hundos to seat him where he has a clear shot at you sitting in your chair. Basically you have to play "President" in that regard; it's expensive as hell, a five-alarm pain in the ass, if you **** up vetting one of the people you hire he kills you because you gave him easy access and for all intents and purposes NOBODY in corporate America goes to those lengths -- not even the few people who CAN afford it, and there are only a few who can.

Exactly zero of the people below that level have either the presence of mind or the money to put themselves in a security bubble that has a snowball's chance in Hell against anything more than a random psychotic jackass, even if they wanted to.

@TG exactly, the only thing keeping the "elite" alive is status quo apathy. Unless you live in a fortress and never leave; if someone wants you dead and has a minimal level of skill and intelligence (less so if they don't care about getting caught)...you aren't gonna last very long.

The list of people with the skill and intelligence required is very very long.

@Cwatson1982 - Yep. I've turned more than one of them white as a SHEET at various receptions and other events when they start shooting their mouth off about their "security", usually after three or four drinks have gone down the throat. Just a little quip about "Heh, what's in my vest pocket here?" as I reach inside my suitcoat is all it usually takes.

Unfortunately, Im going to have to disagree with your opinion on this being thrown out of overturned by the courts and ussc. The country has been under a perpetual state of emergency since 9-14-01. That is giving the president the power to take drastic measures. I think the ussc will not overturn this mandate. Its unfortunate and wrong, but that hasnt stopped them yet. And I can almost guarantee this is not the end. It wont be long, but after this, it will be a universal mandate for everyone, period. This is not going away. The pin has been pulled!

Yep, but droplets will evaporate leaving the virii on the mask. The next intake of breath will suck them all into the respiratory system.

Or, if any are still remain, they'll come off off the mask and onto anything else in a woman's purse, for example. How many women just stuff their mask into their purse thereby contaminating everything else in there such as keys, cellphone, wallet, makeup cases, etc.

I've asked from the beginning if masks are stopping the virus why aren't they considered biohazards and disposed of after every use?

Masks have become a talisman. Put one on and you're magically protected. Insane.

The harder they push with these mandates, the more difficult it becomes to not want to see a massive ADE-type situation play out. Even though I would lose a number of friends and family members, when you have a segment of society encouraging and cheering on canceling people out of daily life for not taking an experimental medical treatment, my empathy gradually wanes. I will not live as a slave.

@Billhrny and everyone else --

I doubt this could work in this current environment but about 20 years ago a csr I worked with suddenly quit one day claiming a hostile work environment. Surprised all of us as she was pretty good.

A couple weeks later the manager got notice of an unemployment hearing over the phone. Long story short....she was granted UE for that reason of her having to quit for her psychological well being due to a hostile work environment. This was in Texas.

Like I said though, I doubt someone could get away with this approach nowadays but who knows. No doubt a hostile work environment exists now and the last 19 months.

@TG yep, people who have zero training just don't tend to grasp the concept until you hit them in the face with it.

I make pointy objects for a living. Using an arduino, bluetooth module, speaker, piezo sensor and MIT app inventor, I made the stabby version of a "shot timer". As slow as I am, with hands at sides and blade concealed it takes .45 seconds on average from buzzer to target impact. That includes the ~.1-.2 second reaction time to the buzzer.

I'm not even that good...but anyone within arms reach on any given day even sans firearm can take you out. It doesn't happen because people are for the most part civilized and apathetic.

This is the biggest failing of the "elite" IMHO, they aren't on average that much smarter than the general population....but they think they are and act accordingly.

Its amusing how it took until step >127 for some start to get riled up to the point of 'lets hope they get what they deserve'.
--

ADE, a fierce variant, or just l/t health effects, its arguably just a math issue... and each day increases the probability.

Yours.. waiting for the 'big bad'

The "elite" live in bubbles. Surrounded by like minded people.

I have family at the edges of those bubbles. They view me as some cave dwelling madman. They also have no idea where their water, power, and food comes from.

It comes from millions like me, who are getting fed up. Remember that old movie fight club?

Oh, corp just called. Our lawyers are in a froth, but said there is no way this is enforceable. HR is screaming because we can't get people now, and HALF the management at the plant level has said they will walk. We don't build plants in garden locations, so good luck.
