Yep.

The entire ****ing nation is so ******ned soft that if Xi came over here and said "mine" you'd all suck him.

You know I'm right.

Last night during the Nationals game a couple of gang-bangers apparently got into it outside the stadium and shot at each other.  I'm presuming that's what it was, although I obviously can't prove it.  But that shots were fired outside appears to be fact.

Now folks, last time I checked baseball stadiums tend to be made out of metal and concrete, which blocks small arms fire really well.  If said gang-bangers were outside, and they were, then the best place to be is in the stadium.

Cops are reporting two people were shot.  So what?

The park is in the middle of lefty Hell, Bowser's Paradise.  As with most of the cities-cum-****holes it's gotten ridiculously worse over the last 20 or so years.  When I lived in Chicago there were bad parts of town but you were quite safe walking up MagMile to shop.  Not anymore.  You might get carjacked right in the middle of the Loop nowdays.  That sort of crap was unheard of at the time.

Austin TX has undergone a "similar" transformation, as has basically all of San Francisco (which used to be confined more or less to the Tenderloin district) and, of course, Portland.

Think a bit about this: Two gangbangers, more or less, shut down a 40,000 person public event when there was not one scintilla of risk to anyone inside.

That's.... impressive.

Home of the brave?

Meh.  Not any more.  And even better, thank you very much Mayor and the Nationals for pointing out to every nutjob and worse, our actual enemies (you know, China again) that we will hide under our beds and trash elements of our economy because two dudes decide to shoot it out on the other side of a concrete and steel wall.

You don't think that might get exploited, do you?

That is encouraging news for Totalitarians in Government.

It broadens the feelings of crisis and can be used to justify more government "Protections" to make the sheep feel safe.

Let's not forget that the so-called reason we've been afraid of catching a cold is because we're worried that the average temperature might rise by a degree or two over the next century.

Years ago, my Dad would take me to college football games.

I remember one time walking by a house on what Dad called skid row with a bunch of cops and an ambulance. Seems there was a drug deal gone bad, and someone was killed. On football Saturday right by a major walkway to the stadium.

We (and I mean the thousands going to the game walking that way) just kept walking.

The cops didn't even shut down the street.

Washington DC is much, much worse than a midwest college town. It is part of daily life for people to get a bad case of dead.

I really believe that the defund the police democrat policy is just a way to go after gun rights. They are creating a problem of gun violence with that goal in mind.

It is just unbelievable. The police can't arrest criminals because of systemic racism. I don't know what has happened to America.

This has been an obvious trend for the last several years. Actually longer, but it has really accelerated since then.

We had a category 1 hurricane come through here a couple of years ago. It knocked down a few trees, but that is about it.

The state closed a local park for for TWO MONTHS to fix it. Unbelievable. Two days would have been reasonable. One day for the "park rangers" to walk/ride all the trails. And the second day to put up signs and tape indicating what sections of trail were closed due to downed trees (yellow tape for caution) and trees about to fall (red tape for avoid).

But, nope. It took them two months to clean up the whole area before reopening. A town of weaklings.

The men of the community needed years, decades, ago, to tell the policing officials that they were obviously not doing their jobs, and that they were going to take over the work. This would not have required breaking the law or cruelty.

The police are ineffective in many cases, yet we rely on them too much.

If gang bangers are shooting in public where there is obvious risk to other people, some one with a clear, unobstructed shot with no risk to others is completely justified in shooting to kill.

Imagine if every man going about his life had a firearm within reach as normal as having a cell phone nearby. Crime - zero. Police force - near zero.

Well, to be honest, I do not believe it's appropriate to draw conclusions about Americans from this incident. (Not saying the conclusions aren't correct, but only that this incident is not appropriate to use for drawing such conclusions.)

First, this is DC, so that would mean that an inordinately large fraction of the people in attendance were gov't employees and/or in some way living on the public trough as employees of companies whose very existence relies on the continual corruption of gov't. IMO, such people have to be ethically-challenged in some way in order to be content living their parasitic lives, and cannot be considered as "typical" Americans (or what "typical " Americans should be).

And second, IMO, one has to be a special kind of low-life scumbag to financially support (especially through attendance) any professional "sports ball" nowadays, since the organizations have very clearly gone over to the dark side (no pun intended) by supporting BLM and the "progressive" left agenda. Again, I would not include those in attendance in the "typical" American category.

I'm a long time reader and this is my first post:
I agree with Karl...I think the only reason we have not been invaded by China/Russia, is that they have been so successful turning America into marxist country, they don't need to invade us quite yet. Maybe next spring is when the big invasion will happen. If you survive the massive nuke strike, I could see citizens lining the streets cheering on the Chinese invaders. There are so few Men left...

Next up, you must strip to your skivvies to enter any public space. Underwear, and mask of course. Your dignity is a small price to pay for your safety. Oh, and don't you dare stare at your fellow disrobed cattle. That's a felony. And don't complain. That's a felony too. Hope you enjoy your "freedom" and don't forget to thank your masters for the opportunity. That will be a felony too.

And since you cannot carry at the stadium or likely anywhere in the District of Columbia unless you are in a magic blue costume, you have the best means of self-defense taken from you at the start.

It definitely gives me YET another reason to not patronize any kind of professional sporting event, the last vestiges of which died for me in 2020 anyway. Wait; I thought all those metal detectors, forcing you to use clear bags when walking into the stadiums, and body cavity searches made us safe, right? RIGHT?! Oh, wait; last night just destroyed that final illusion. Where's my deer and his popcorn?

Based on that video, I'm dumbfounded to see such deer-in-the-headlight indecision that is based primarily on ... ...

Not knowing what's going on?

This goes beyond dumbing down the population. The only surprise is that the autonomous nervous systems of these people still function well enough to support emulating the ability to think. Looks more like a human equivalent of a stampede where the first sign of fear was based on a wildly exaggerated interpretation of something inconsequential.

Everyone panicked because those around them were panicking and then it spiralled out of control.

Sheesh.

@Happyapricot - I think they want to defund the police because a major step in any revolution is the delegitimization of the existing state's monopoly on violence. These people are Marxists and they are trying to take over the country. In their dream police will be replaced by counselors and ideological enforcers (Antifa) who will work everything with the party line in mind.

I grew up in DC and left a decade ago for Austin, two of the cities specifically mentioned. The area where Nationals stadium is was very rough 20 years ago, it is near the waterfront and was home to DC's only true warehouse and industrial area, given DC mainly produces hot air, memos, and debt. Back then it was a combo of decay and large entertainment venues that specialized in fringe stuff like raves and LGBT. Most of these places would be open well into the next morning on weekends, talking 7, 8, 9am because they were fine not selling alcohol all night as most of the crowd was blitzed on all sorts of party drugs. It was a very interesting dichotomy as the US capitol was only a few blocks away. It all came to an end when the local news sent undercover cameras into one and filmed US military members from the nearby bases partying and doing drugs. Shortly thereafter the whole area was slated for redevelopment with the stadium as centerpiece. DC has a number of these areas that were very rough and have been revitalized in the past couple of decades, I've never been convinced that it will last there are just too many bad parts surrounding them so it's interesting to see that shootings are happening down in the stadium area again.

As for Austin it has definitely become worse in my time here. When I moved in it was pleasantville I couldn't believe how clean it was and the news at night had literal stories of cats being rescued out of trees. There were a few bums but they were locals and generally harmless. Once the hard leftists like mayor Steve Adler and anchor baby Marxist council member Greg Casar got their repeal of the public camping ban in things rapidly went downhill. Huge tent cities everywhere, aggressive panhandlers everywhere, shootings every day. I'm convinced things like this are being done to try and get non leftists to move out of Texas, make life bad enough to get us to move away and be replaced with more left coasters. The national dems know that if they win Texas they will never be out of power and their money and tentacles are everywhere here - for one example search "Southwest key programs" on the web. We are fighting back though, through ballot initiative we reinstated the camping ban and there is another to undo their police budget attack. The state is also passing laws that are making it less desirable for leftists - constitutional carry, restrictive abortions, voting regulations. I used to evaluate laws on their merits now I only care whether they make the state less desirable for libs and to what degree. We are in the fight of our lives here with huge implications for the nation. Unfortunately given the demographic situation it's likely a delaying battle at best.

As for the pussy aspect of the ballgame itself it's true most of those in attendance are probably gov workers of some stripe these are generally people who can't handle any risk at all in their lives the reaction isn't surprising. Everytime there is a phony gov shutdown they start wailing about the struggles they'll face even though it's turned out to be a paid vacation every time. They generally finance their lives to the max because they have a guaranteed job so who knows maybe they really are afraid of missing one check.
