Do I need to go over it all again?  I'd hope not.

Think the cancel game is not going to get you?  Of course it is.  It is simply a matter of time.

Last month about 1.4% of the people with college degrees said **** you and walked off their jobs, not having new ones.  Of those the majority left the workforce entirely and thus are no longer interested in a job.  In one month.  In addition over the last six months close to three million new people are listed as having a disability that did not exist before.

Three million.

Covid got a bunch of the disabled in 2020, of course.  Disabilities tend to run with both age and morbid conditions.  The expected downward move in said people in the labor report occurred, only to be replaced with a rocket ride starting in January.

You're smart enough to figure this one out -- right?

Perhaps people are getting wise to the games and simply pulling back.  Fine and well for the one, but what does that do to society as a whole?  For our competitiveness?  Is the jobs market really "strong" or is the truth a bit more-subtle; you can put up all the "Help Wanted" signs you wish but if you're an illogical jackass that treats people like cattle you can and will be told to go screw a goat.

America was founded on the premise of individual liberty.  Your risk, your reward -- for good or bad.

You have no right -- nor did you ever have a "right" -- to force anyone to do anything simply because of how you feel.

Yet somewhere along the line if you happen to feel insecure, you feel that a virus might get you or you feel like you don't like some outcome that is linked to your DNA in a way that there's nothing you can do about suddenly it's everyone else's obligation to assuage your feelings via committing to whatever change you demand.

Uh, no.  You can demand all you want but the middle finger can go up in response.

There are those who feel you should take some action after they spent a decade or more stuffing their face and becoming fat.  Which, incidentally, happens to grossly raise your risk of bad things happening of all sorts, whether it be joint replacements, heart attacks, strokes.... or viruses.

To top it off the teachers unions have declared that it is your child's responsibility to take care of the teachers health and they have refused to go back to work until and unless you damage or even destroy your child's education -- and perhaps their quality of life -- so they feel "safe."  They didn't just do this on a forward basis either -- in many parts of the country they turned around and screwed your kids out of a year and a half of school already!  Oh, but of course you must still pay the taxes that fund the provision of what neither you or your children got and their screaming hasn't stopped either.

Never mind that there is now evidence that the last 18 months of bull**** has doubled the incidence of Type II diabetes in children What sort of monster puts together a set of policy decisions that lead to that outcome?  I'll tell you what sort: The sort of monsters infesting our local, state and federal governments.

Would not an intelligent set of parents say screw this, move somewhere that you can manage to make it work financially delivering McDonalds with Door Dash and tell your employer to go hose himself?  Homeschool anyone?  Oh, now what?  Think that's not part of what's reflected in those jobs numbers?

There's much more of course.  Conflicts of interest, inflation intentionally unleashed on the people, screwing every small landlord in the nation, the medical mafia screwing anyone that walks in the door to within an inch of their life (if they don't kill them outright), ruining the value of college, telling every white person they're the demonic Spawn of Satan simply on the basis of their skin color, offshoring of jobs to China and India and more.

We've allowed government to lie in myriad ways (Yellowcake, Gain of Function and more anyone?) and lots of people died as a result.  This latest fiasco was simply one that got plenty of people right here instead of a few service members and a crap-ton of those "who, in the opinion of said 'betters', don't matter at all."  Like the Iraqis, for example.

How much corruption do you think was involved in the Seaside collapse?  The outcome went a bit further than it did at The Mid-Bay Bridge where I used to live.  There it just roughly quadrupled the cost of going over said bridge, ruining the economics of where they live for anyone who works a $10/hour job.  This time people died.  The truth is coming out; there were warnings at Seaside but despite them the building was not Red Tagged and everyone involved with the power to raise Hell at the local government level sat on their ass.  Why?  Was it the property taxes coming in?  That's a very nice pile of concrete and rebar you have sitting there as a consequence of said failure to act, isn't it?  Never mind the pile of bodies.

Now add to that duh-versity.  You get points for everything except competence.  Come talk to me about how horrible and racist things like diesel engines (in trucks, ships and trains), electric power, light bulbs, telephones, the IP protocol that makes your suckle media work, flush toilets, air conditioned buildings and dozens of other things we not only enjoy but rely on daily, and flush them all down the toilet because some white dude invented damn near all of it.  Everyone who isn't competent wants to use these things and enjoy the fruits of our civilization while at the same time calling everyone involved in creating the comforts and utility that we all enjoy a bunch of racists and worse, teaching everyone's children by force that their value is found only in their skin color and if they're white and especially male they should be ashamed of thatnot their ability and character.  Every single person pushing that crap should be forced to **** in the street and live without running water, power, air conditioning, motor vehicles and the Internet.  Speaking of those teeeaaaaachers, especially in places like ****Cago, how many of them can write a basic business letter and do 4-function arithmetic on paper and pencil?  Maybe some of those Devils the duh-versity crowd have trashed in favor of rioting thugs in places like ****Cago, Portland, Detroit and Minneapolis have decided that if merit doesn't matter then you can go right ahead and build the next thing you want -- or maintain what's already there -- without them.

Yeah, Trump was wonderful; he enabled all the lockdowns, the restrictions and people being treated like crap.  Biden is no better and in many ways worse and of course the "mavens of media" refused to report on any of his corruption, including what is arguably the direct sell-out of this nation to China through Hunter.

Perhaps -- just perhaps -- the last 18 months have taught the American people with actual brains that they're not considered valued, they are thought as "racist devils" and seeing it come at them from both sides of the aisle while the coercion and "cone of silence" ratchet up ever tighter they've finally woken up and decided to walk off in response and let everyone twist in the wind without their effort, intelligence and experience.

What do you put on said paper after When in the course of human events......?

Are you ready to begin such a document?  Is it time for the American people to have debate in the open, and enforce the right to have that debate whether the duh-versity screamers like it or not as guaranteed under our Constitution without interference by government or private actors?  And are you willing to back up whatever words you come together with others and collectively write down or will it just be "oooohs" and "aaaaaahs" as you light fireworks this evening and swill beer?

How long will there be groceries in the stores if the trucks stop coming because the drivers say "screw you"?

How long will there be gasoline?

For how long will the light switch work?

How about your faucet from which comes clean water and the sewer plant that treats your ****?

How about the medicine you need because you ate yourself into a blob when the Whaaambulance dude in the back doesn't show up for work with his defib kit when you have a heart attack because you called him a Satanic Racist -- for being white?

How about the Internet over which you can playing Reeeeeeeeing Karen?

What percentage of the people in any critical component of delivery of goods and services have to stick up the middle finger before the insanity that local, state and federal governments along with the big corporate folks wish to impose is forced to stop?

What if our "corporate overlords" put up those Help Wanted signs and nobody applies for the jobs as they're sick of the bull**** from top to bottom, tired of being treated like cattle, and tell them all to go to Hell?

Something to think about while you're grilling the hot dogs that were 16 cents cheaper this year but the gas to get the store that you must expend to get there and buy them doubled in price.

Always a great read Karl. Every damn time. The master of words. I know for myself and my wife, we are seriously having the **** YOU AND THIS JOB discussion. I believe you are spot on in the idea that many are starting to shrug and let it all twist in the wind. What other ****ing choice do we have? Either that or stay enslaved. And more so with every passing day it seems. I know where I am in my course of human events.

How much corruption do you think was involved in the Seaside collapse?

Many years ago I watched a so called plumber install and test a line for a propane heater. The line pressure tested OK but the plumber did a half fast job on the flue. Carbon monoxide leaking from a heater will kill as effectively as an explosion.

The inspector showed up, was handed an unmarked envelope by the plumber, and signed off on the job. Later, I read the inspector was found to be attending community college while he was on the clock. The inspector got a letter of reprimand for stealing from the taxpayer but kept his job! . This was in Wilmington Delaware around 1985.

To answer your original question, massive corruption was involved and NO ONE will go to jail.

PS - The plumber fixed the flue after we called him out on the unmarked envelope trick.

One recalls here the quote from Samuel Johnson: "How is it that we hear the loudest yelps for liberty among the drivers of negroes?" they built a police state to control African American crime, and now it's being put to work controlling a better, smarter, wealthier class of slave.

There was no golden age. Increased centralization has allowed subsidization of bad ideas (the way fugitive slave laws had non-slavers subsidizing slave owners) and their propagation widely. The Paris Commune and Bolshevism were both bad ideas, but the one being limited to one city limited the death and destruction.

We are in the process of decentralizing. There will be greater liberty in the other side of it, and a lot of pain on the way. The centralizers today are no more vicious than Lincoln, FDR, Wilson, or others; it's just that they lack the future growth to mortgage to pay for their schemes.

I'd say the people today who are furthering the collapse show tremendous character, principles, vision, and courage.

There are a lot of people, especially those without obligations, who put aside some cash. It does not have to be much. Years ago, pre-Obamacrap, a person deciding to take off a few years sweated losing everything, said cash included if he decided to take years off work and live off savings. For the vast majority, this is no longer a problem.

I know many Millennials, actually had contact with a huge number over the years. A concept emerged among them about fifteen years ago of working for a period of time and then taking a long period off to do things, repeat roughly on the same cycle. What we might be observing is a larger mass of dropping out for a period of time for all of the reasons that Karl discusses. Many from my gen X have done and do the same. And many fine Boomers are discovering this same thing. Can't begin to tell you how many have discussed with me selling something or cashing out and how long the cash will carry until they qualify for earned benefits. There are all sorts of permutations.

Karl himself did this in disgust and for his own reasons. People with options will use them, and some might even create said. Even i did similar when i survived an illness, did not spin up to the level of my abilities and plan to have a type of five to seven year drop out period to live without attachments. Only difference with me is that i accept a certain risk which i have discussed here before.

The interesting thing about this latest dropping out wave is that it involves couples in the middle of child bearing years if not in the prime. I am hearing this. One of the big limiting factors for a young man dropping out has always been if he had a female in his life or wanted such. There were many hacks to this, some not so nice, others by mutual agreement. Society and families have depended upon this family formation pressure once we embraced the horrible model of young family formation. Females have for a variety of reasons accepted that things are **** and now back their particular man in his quest to avoid being trapped. I get first hand reports on a near daily basis. There are no tricking into pregnancy or happy accidents. They mean business as much as the man does. Many men are perceived as Alpha (hate the notion but works) and high value because they are saying no to society, and here is the rub.

Lots of young people and couples resent their parents for selling them a lie and allowing this to happen. Many also experienced misery in the crazy world or at least disheartening life and have no problem coolly letting their parents do their thing. In my other writing have described that they do not even fight or give any indication of their sentiment. Parents hate this. Some have an active plan for their parents with varying ranges from cold to active exploitation and everything in between. At minimum does this sound like people who will respond to their parents wanting grandchildren?

It gets even better. For those who do wish to one day have a family many figure that they will create some situation that works to their benefit, screw the societal consequences, long before any "blessed event." Many have as a plan getting into some government work during this time with the plan for said being somewhat transient. Other have business plans and use their down times to create things for this future goal with the lifestyle that they want. People here should instantly notice that the smartest that people want to work for them are the ones doing this. Think about it.

We here, sometimes all ****ing day, comment that the education system is ****, right? Well these young people probably think the same thing and want to do their own; they tell me. So, why the **** would they want to use their higher intelligence and work ethic to work so many hours that they have to farm their children out to the **** system and rely upon the extra curricular's of others to lead their children. Both parents want time and will give up money to get it.

Key to all of the above understanding is that they will not form families unless they get the above. It is a commitment, so if they cannot make it work, they will just lead their lives often as a couple.

Now mix into this how miserable it is to be a middle aged man in the work world. Does not matter if the house is nice and allows some hobbies. Older couple figures that if they sell the house regardless of the market, they are good to SS age. And, can supplement with gigs. It works, i know many.

Other middle aged people with no mortgages have varying ability if their taxes are low to scale down and do permutations of the above. I did; am also in an expansion state. If i wanted to, have no heath care cost concerns regardless of the asset base.

The past months probably pushed a lot of people over the edge. Now those willing to do something can call the shots.

I am going to give a little advice to people reading this who have businesses and cannot grok why people would give up good positions with them and seem to downsize and/or not live up to their potential. I had this conversation with myself decades ago.

Could you right now, if you were reborn at the age when you started your business, open and build the same exact concern in all or any way or better. Guaranteed that the answer is no to all three for the vast majority. This means that the system of govt inc and inflation has granted you an estate. You are a lord living off a tax on the people who work for you. There is no debate here.

Parents ask yourselves the above regarding your children achieving and having everything that you have now in the exact same place.

This goes beyond merit, luck, work ethic and commitment for honest people and has been going on for a long time.

The Mennonites (Amish are a subset by the way) know this very well and do not allow it to happen in their community. It is why we wear a hat. (This last line is way beyond the vast majority reading, but true.)

Denying facts does not make them any less true.

One day this week i will be spending some time with a Millennial couple treating me to some fun. Since the very early 2000s they work one season a year on their terms, and live an amazingly relaxed and interesting lifestyle. Only the very rich once had this kind of freedom and joy. They experience no crime, urban and suburban filth, dysfunction, pollution or political issues or have any of the mental stress of concerning themselves with said, like folks here. Their community has many followers, and a bunch of us support their movement and have been doing so since before they were of legal age.

The key is this. These people whom you might see as irresponsible, selfish, lazy, immoral, ungrateful (All of the things that parents and families like to throw at their children who might not give them grandchildren while moving too far away.) and that the society also likes to fling at them (The trad BS American family used to benefit the business world at minimum employers who owned a parent or two; business mavens told me so quite clearly.) are something very much like me.

THEY ARE HARD-CORE. Their values are so strong that they will not compromise.

They have declared their independence day as did many others. It is not recent, just getting noticeable.

I did the same with my family. My only wish was that i did not have to do such, but there was no compromise when i accepted the children that i would raise.

Right now and for a long time ongoing there are communities of people taking this path forming and formed for all ages and other subset niches. There are formulas for these groups and community support for them not accepting what they are handed because this is where they are and must accept for where they are in life.

people are making their own rules. This is independence.

The problem for society is that they have absolutely no problem using others who are not in their particular group or likeable or useful to them. The most that people can expect are alliances and peace agreements. Just ask any parent who is wondering what will happen to them by their children's hand or disinterest.

It becomes easy to understand how someone can live at home well into middle age and not seem to do much.

Love is dead except in certain understood situations. Using people who wish to use you for what you did to them is a fool's errand or sleeping with the enemy.

This is why a person with high earnings or potential and a great job walks away from your company. At least they did not hurt you or your org for benefit, yet.

Happy Independence Day. Some of us already have it and are not interested in fighting for your right to be free from some tyranny. What did you do to preserve the society that you and your ancestors experienced?

Educated young people may well be quitting their jobs because they are irritated with all of the crap you have to put up with working in a large corporation. They are able to quit because they practice the "minimalist" life style and ensure they have the "screw you" money to get out. Needless to say, the "minimalist" life style does not allow for marriage, kids, and the like. So the birth rate will continue to decline (in addition to other factors like covid-19, vaccines, xenoestrogens, and a host of sociological factors).

The demonization of the one race of people that have created the modern world, including electricity and plumbing, does not help matters either. I think what we're seeing is the MGTOW phenomenon on steroids. The covid-19 affair has put it on steroids. Some of the decline of the workforce may be due to vaccine-induced disability. But I think the Lion's share of it is people simply upping and quitting what are abusive work situations, as well as the embrace of the minimalist/MGTOW life style.

I think another factor is abusive HR. Although this is one of the few things that has actually improved in the last 10 years, HR was totally out of control the decade prior to the '08 crash.

They would screen candidates by asking stupid questions like "what is your favorite animal?" or "what songs do you workout to?". I remember taking a "psychological" profile test for an Asian market sales position, the test asking questions if I liked working with kids or old people. Naturally a flunked the test and the HR ditz told me I was not "extroverted" enough for the job. This was after a previous job where I doubled my employer's sales in East and South east Asia over a two year period.

I was never able to figure out how a 43 year old HR person could tell who would make a good, say, opto-electronics device fabrication engineer or someone who could expand the company's sales into a new market such as East or South Asia. A lot of the problem over the past 25 years is the growth of influence of "experts" who don't know jack-s**t about anything.

With regards to those psychology tests: the only psychometric traits that have ever been shown to correlate to socioeconomic success are those called executive function (work ethic, impulse control, delayed gratification, grit, conscientiousness, etc.). I can assure you that those psychological tests that HR use do not measure these traits.

I think this is one example of the kind of **** that people are wick of and are walking out the door in response.

Story from extended family this weekend. One the cousin's of my daughter works at Chase just north of Columbus. Apparently, Chase has decided they are telling all of their cattle that they WILL be reporting back to the office very soon. Anyone who doesn't like can go elsewhere. Problem for Chase is, they droves. Entire departments are being gutted. What those *******s didn't count on was their livestock banking all of the money they didn't have to spend on daycare, transportation, wardrobe and some of them moved out further to cheaper homes. They don't need all that now and other companies are happy to take them on for remote work, often for more money. And many are happy to take a pay cut somewhere else so they don't have to go back to an office every day.

I'll posit that much of boobus amerikanus who were able to work from home put up with the lockdowns because they just hated office culture that much. I know I hated it with a white hot passion.

I've said screw-it, First career was in Michigan, moved to Idaho in 2007 and had 13 wonderful years there, 2019 moved back to Michigan for 'old age'. State is run by a mental moron who wrote E.O.'s with no justification other then a power play when Covid hit. Watched as 'friends' of 40-50 years bought the crap and lost any critical thinking skills they had. They are now ex-friends I refuse to associate with individuals who are either stupid (probably) or so willing to give up freedoms to temporary politicians. Watching the D.C. corruption where no one is held accountable leads me to believe the decline is irreversible. I'm not a talker, I'm a doer, did my research over the Winter I now live in a conservative community in a Western state. I support business's that know enough not to promote woke policies and other crap in my face. I walk across the road to endless public land, hike my 8 miles daily. Sorry for posting so much. But I have to get this off my mind.

A perfect example of an "expert" who does not know his head from a hole in a wall is Ben Shapiro. I'm sure all of you have heard of him.

He got his start as a pundit in 2003 when, as a 21 year old college student, he wrote a paper arguing for the invasion and occupation of at least 5 middle-eastern countries for the purpose of rebuilding them socially like we did with Japan and West Germany after WW2. Not to get into the many reasons why this could never work, what I could not figure out for the life of me is what special knowledge would a 21 year old American college student would have about middle-eastern culture and society that a business or high level consultant with 20 years experience doing business in the region would not have! 18 years later and I still don't have a answer to this question.

What was even more astonishing to me was that no one called Benny boy out on it. People actually took him seriously!

Mind you this was 18 years ago. It has only gone downhill from that point on.

History shows that major societal upheaval and disruptions occur after plagues.

Governments have vastly over-reached. Police have acted like thugs. Politicians have lied and proved to be useless windbags. Government health leaders have proved to be dangerous, homicidal maniacs. Churches have been threatened, closed, and their leaders imprisoned.

Societies have a way of getting their own backs. Jungle justice, or by other means.

Society on a global scale is bound to go through a major re-balancing. New social contracts will have to emerge.

yesterday i had to go to a branch of {a large national bank} five minutes from my house to reactivate an old account. Mentioned here in another thread that i was chatting up the teller and other folks there. Spent about fifteen minutes talking about all sorts of stuff. Manager asks me if i was interested in working there, even part time. Better by a lot than my BS fun gig now and even closer to my house. Could walk there in ten minutes down a tree lined street. They are putting branch management people behind the teller window they are so short. Actually needed someone like me to do banking branch administrative tasks. Mentioned my age just for fun. They did not care but caused a few of the young females to kind of flirt.

Not bad for walking out of the house in neat business casual or as my friends say, nerd.

If you want work, would tell you to just always go out sharp casual and talk to people. Places are going to be desperate for a long time.

My biggest problem is that i absolutely will not work full time, and want to do some traveling around, so two or three weeks off does not cut it.

Could they have finally pushed people too far?

Most of the younger cohorts have a (deserved) sullen attitude about playing the game, at all. Especially if they're white. They know the game is overwhelmingly rigged and refuse to work and be taxed so their tax monies can be used directly against them, and their own self-interests. All all the exhortations of the Boomers run off them like******off a duck's back. They just smile and await the Day of the Pillow.

The .fed throwing free money at black farmers impacted by the dread virus, while whites are told to pound sand; NY state tossing up to 15K at each illegal that was impacted by the corona; housing costs that spiral and spiral while Blackrock furthers the unavoidability bubble by overpaying for single family houses by 30-50%; it goes on and on and on.

And here's a rumor, a conspiracy theory making the rounds: Soon, very soon the .fed will pass legislation that helps the under-priveledged by making all housing eligible for multi-family housing by Federal fiat, and making HUD payments available to such land-lords ... and the exodus from the cities, the ghettos into every nook and cranny in America will commence overnight.

Crazy? Well, Blackstone IS NOT in the business of losing money so ... they clearly have a game plan.

My corporation has tried to hire ~100 and had perhaps 20 pass the aptitude test (take home; still some had problems) and associated drug tests. Then they told the 20 poor buggers to give their notice, quit their current jobs as they're hired! Then 2-3 days later called them up and told them that if they were not vaxxed they would not be hired/allowed to start work.

And you wonder why the population is muttering a collective FU! Do you really? And I can identify what corporate news station people listen to by the canned bull**** they regurgitate: "People refuse to work! We must cut all benefits!" No. People realize it's all BS and refuse to work for the shekels that will be turned into a weapon to be used against them. It's a rational and honorable decision; perhaps this is the start of Karl's much called for General Strike.

People have often tried to tell me that there's no non-splodey-head way out of the mess.

Oh yes there is, and even more effective in many ways since there's no possible way for the government to put a stop to it; their only option is to stop doing the stupid things and concede.

Think you can effectively force someone to perform open heart surgery and not wind up with a pile of dead bodies?

Good luck with that.

"The Lord watches over drunks, fools and the United States of America." I only heard this once from my Aunt Kay, dead these twenty-two years, but never again. It no longer holds, obviously, so no one says it. There have been signs of approaching doom for a long time, among them kudzu over-running the South, pythons in Florida, the falling water table in the midwest, devastating hurricanes and forest fires, the drought in the southwest and etc, and this leaves the moral collapse to one side altogether.

But that moral collapse is obviously ( to me and all Christians) the reason the blessing of God is off the country. We may well have come to the point where our utter destruction serves the interests of our Creator as an example of how nations should not live.

One can well imagine orators of the future saying, "Let us not be like the United States of America who murdered their unborn, castrated their boys, dressed them as girls, cut off the breasts of their girls, celebrated and promoted homosexuality, elected fools as their leaders, legislators and judges, who were governed by liars, deceived by their journalists, who corrupted their medical profession and somewhat like the Jews at Masada, finally committed suicide by jabbing one another to death in blind, but amazing ignorance.

Yes, we are giving the great men of the future a great deal of ammunition with which to defend their families, their countries and their civilization. We should have been so bright, for Scripture and in fact the history of virtually every civilization offered us plenty of cautionary tales, tales which our teachers were supposed to pass on to our children, but did not. Instead they denigrated and despised our heroes, re-cast our inspiring histories and made our schools fountains of atheism, resentment and self-hatred.

Yet, all is not lost. Perhaps we may yet be a "brand snatched from the fire" if somehow we come to our senses and save something of what we once were. We were a wonderful country, completely unlike anything before us. Not yet am I willing to drink to her memory, though, not while there are Jeremiahs around calling us out and trying to wake us up from our deadly drowziness, as in Karl's post. We need a lot more of this, from many more quarters.
