Michigan legalized recreational marijuana yesterday.  It will not fully take effect for about two years, but it happened.  While I expect there will be some "hicksterism" among the cops up there for a while I also expect there will be some Sheriff expulsions (and maybe some local police chief ones) if they still arrest and/or ticket people for it as of this morning.

Florida went nearly full retard.  The amendment to add an additional exemption for homestead property taxes failed, while the rest... not so much.  Rental and commercial property tax escalator tax caps (which were in force but due to expire) passed, and the only other good amendment was a supermajority requirement to impose new taxes and fees, or lift the level of existing ones.  Sounds good, except that of course it has exemptions -- including schools which is, of course, the largest single line item on a property tax bill.  But what this does do is make imposing an income tax nearly impossible, even if the Governorship goes Democrat.  Which it didn't, thank Ghod.

However, the "dog racing ban" did pass.  Which doesn't bother me so much.  No, it's the fact that animal rights are now in the Florida Constitution, and that sentence wasn't on the ballots.  It's easy to hate dog racing.  What actually passed may be used to ban hunting and fishing, in all of its forms, never mind any other form of animal husbandry -- including for food. Yes, I'm serious; this sort of outrageous hiding of the ball ought to have gotten the proponents hung but of course the so-called "State Supreme Court" didn't stop this horse**** before it occurred.  Countdown to this stupidity in 5.....4.......  I'm glad I sold my boat.

Illinois got a (very) rich Democrat governor.  Have fun *******.  He basically bought the office but I bet he finds there's a huge **** sandwich he can't swallow once he closes the door.  I'm going to enjoy watching that state drown in its pension and health care "obligations", given that he won't take on the medical monopolies (despite having the law to do so) any more than tRump did.  If you live in Illinois GTFO -- now.

Ditto for Washington State.  Their proposal-based gun ban, and make no mistake that's effectively what it is, is flatly unconstitutional.  It's not like anyone has actually been shot over such a thing yet.  Oh wait.... they were, just the other day.  May the family responsible for that burn in Hell; I'll see you there *******s.

If you want something to smile about there is one item: Every Dem who was in a competitive state and piled on the Kavanaugh accuser lies lost.  All of them.  Heitkamp, Donnelly, McCaskill and Nelson all got deservedly butt****ed.  On the other hand Manchin was re-elected -- he was the Dem who broke ranks.  May I point out that is why the Senate did not flip?  Heh FeinSwine -- you and the rest are personally responsible for your party not having the Senate this morning -- that's a fact.

Liberal lies are going to be the reason the USSC -- and all the lesser courts -- go even further to the right and there's not only nothing you the LIEberals can do about it their campaign of lies is the reason it happened.

Now let's prosecute all of the fake accusers -- including Ford -- and throw them in prison where they belong.

A decent Governor would immediately Pardon all nonviolent drug offenders and release all others awaiting trial.

Well Karl, at least we dodged the communist for guvner. I cannot fathom why the homestead exemption lost, other than the single greatest reason for most things in this sick society I can't fathom - being surrounded by morons who breed, drive, and worst of all, vote.

Some might think Karl is a little off about how far reaching FL doggie racing ban might be taken. Yea he might just be off....but it is doubtful.

This WA state gun confiscation thing can get quite interesting. I am no lawyer but will this law set WA state up to allow cops to enter your home without a warrant?

Fortunatly the vast majority of gun owns do so responsibly and wish to obey decent laws. The criminals of course do not care what law they break. Fred: "Hey Bob did you register that gun" Bob: "Um no, I didn't know I needed to" Fred: "Damn it Bob how are we supposed to rob this house if you can't even take the time to register the gun properly".....Yea Fred and Bob REALLY care about this law.

Teacher to 3rd grade class: "Part of your assignment today is tell us were all the dangerous items in your house are" Susie: "But mommy and daddy said I shouldn't tell anyone were the guns are" Hmmmmm under mandatory notification laws the teachers are supposed to inform the "authorities" of any threats to a child. So if it is already not written into the law, something stupid like this will shortly be incorporated in it.

Now does that give the state the right to search your property without a warrant? It is doubtful, but the state can now send out one of their Highly Trained social workers to speak to you at your house. That can and probably will go down hill rather quickly.

Of course mom and dad will lose their gun, but have no fear Fred and Bob will bring theirs.

New Mexico is even more ****ed than most years. We elected a land commissioner who hates oil and gas. Which is the only source of income for the state. And a Dem governor.
The Albuquerque metro rolls over all the sane people throughout the rest of the (rural) state.

The Washington State referendums are a prime example of why direct democracy was not intended to be the form of US government. Just imagine if every voter got to vote on every law.

I read through the entire text of the referendums. Boring, complicated, and very hard to understand. I would bet everything I own that less than 10% of the people that voted actually read anything but the titles.

Here in the North Star State they're still counting in CD-1 but it looks like our House delegation should remain neutral. Dems flipped two seats in suburban Twin Cities while two more rural districts flipped to R. Que the redneck republican comments.

My house rep went from a muzzie from Detroit to a muzzie from Somalia. smiley

I've long been planning my exit from this socialist utopia but the phony economy has been good enough to keep me here. I'm sure our latest batch of politico's will try their damnedest to change that.

And now the ****bag, Nelson, in Florida is refusing to concede. I knew something was up last night when Broward and Palm Beach counties became very slow reporting their final results. Scott had a 0.6% lead for hours. Late results from those two counties brought the race to less than a 0.5% difference, triggering an automatic recount, unless Nelson declines having one. Im sure that Nelson didnt concede last night because he was told dont worrywe got this. I see this as another Al Franken-stein recount in the works.

Looks like it is time to stop neutering your pets and time to start neutering the pet's lawyer.

But in all seriousness how long before that practice is deemed as animal cruelty?

Though I abhor animal cruelty pets are not people (at least they aren't suppossed to be). How long before the animal welfare guys are no different than the child welfare people sticking their noses into a family's private business just hoping to find something to lock up the parents or to take the kids away?

Animals can't lie but control officers can.

Indeed. The problem with 1639 right out of the blocks was that the signatures were collected on forms where the entire text of the ballot measure was not printed, and the text was microscopic.

The instant lawsuit over it was tossed by the state supreme court "because it wasn't a law yet", even though the suit was about the ballot initiative violations.

I-1639 also has something like 17 components, where ballot initiatives are required to be about ONE single issue.

The opposition advertisements focused on how it would "make personal defense weapons useless", which was a pretty weak argument compared to the outrageous items such as:
- Buy any semi auto rifle or handgun and you instantly waive your HIPPA rights. The friggin' dog catcher could get your medical records.
- The state will re-run your background check every year (!). The $50 fee on top of buying your weapon is supposed to offset that, but it is (so far...) a one time fee, so this becomes an unfunded liability for the state.

From where I'm sitting, the blue wave did happen. We've still got Maria Cantwell, and the libs are going after cops.

So far the "carbon tax" is the only thing trailing. Once the dead people and convicts get done voting I'm sure it will pass.

I was surprised how well funded Dems were, even in local races here in Latah county ID. One Dem county commissioner got $18k in donations to her campaign-- outside money. Her Republican opponent got $800.

Up and down the ballot, it was pretty much the same: lefties were well funded and organized, and their numbers in one city, Moscow, overwhelmed the votes of everyone else in the county who lean conservative.

The university was busing students to the polls in unprecedented numbers. Transient students really should have to right voting/hijacking a county election, but there it is. I wouldn't be surprised if they voted twice: here and at home.
