Want to know why I'm done with a whole lot of people?

This would be the reason.

Before his meeting with the leadership of the U.S. Bishops Conference Thursday to discuss recent allegations of serious mishandling of clerical sex abuse reaching up to the pontiff himself, the pope used his homily at morning Mass to once again condemn accusers as allies of the devil.

Not accusing others “goes against the spirit of the world,” the pope told his small congregation in the chapel of his Santa Marta residence. “Among us is the great accuser, who always goes to accuse us before God, in order to destroy us. Satan: He is the great accuser.”

“When I enter into this logic of accusing, cursing, trying to hurt the other, I enter into the logic of the great accuser who is destructive,” he said, “who does not know the word ‘mercy.’ He does not know it and has never lived it.”

Oh go **** yourself with a rusty chainsaw.

Mercy?  How about the boys abused?  How about the seminarians abused and, if they didn't relent or cover up, who had their careers and vocations destroyed?

How about the financial matters -- the money you took from all the parishes under false pretense -- that you were a House of God, not the house of Sodom and Gomorrah?

How about the coverups -- including, it now appears, your personal complicity and active involvement in them?

I'm increasingly convinced there is no God for one simple reason: If there was he would have struck you down where you stand, *******.

You will probably blast me, but here goes,
There is a God and he hates evil more than you. That being said God love people. God sent Jesus to die on the cross to saves sinners of which I am Chief. When God created humans he created them perfect and righteous and gave them one command they couldnt eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The woman was deceived by Satan and she ate from the tree and gave some to her husband and he also ate of the fruit. When that happened man fell from grace and became sinners separated from God. Because God cannot be in the presence of evil or man would be consumed. God choose to redeem mankind to himself by the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. But if God was going to have mercy (the withholding of punishment) on man he would also have to withhold the judgement of the sin wanting all to repent and be saved.
I dont know if you remember Jeffery Daumer? He murdered 17 men and was convicted and sentenced to be executed. He repented of his sin and asked God to forgive him. Since Jesus had already taken the punishment for Daumers sin God could forgive him. He still received the punishment man has dulled out, but God could be reconciled to him because of the death and resurrection of Jesus for the sins of all man. If a man refuses to repent of his sins he receives the just punishment of eternal separation from God for eternity.
God set up government by men so that man could punish evildoers. Please dont blame God for what man refuses to do. But one day God will say enough. Just like he did when he sent the flood that destroyed the whole earth during Noahs time and only 8 people were saved who were on the ark with Noah.
The Pope is a fraud and all who have let this perversion slide and continue. But doesnt it make you wonder why those who have been abused have not screamed bloody murder and made those who are in law enforcement do something. Mostly because the people are not righteous either. We get the government we want and deserve. When the people are wicked so will the government.

"I'm increasingly convinced there is no God" It is extremely difficult to argue against your position. However I will take the other side of that argument. First because we only have two choices for were life came from. We were created or came from ameba. I personally theorize who or whatever God is allows macro evolution, so it is a combination of both, but life would not exist and you, I and everyone else would not be here if not for creation.

Now let me prove to you this is true....BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Ok there is absolutely no way to prove it.

I have become convinced that during times of confusion and turmoil people can and do commit the worst types of crimes against others, because it is so easy to hide within all the noise.

Raping, molesting and hurting children is beyond reprehensible, especially when it is on a serial basis and those covering it up are committing a worse crime than the pedophile doing the heinous acts.

Anyone and I mean ANYONE who has the mental capacity to read, see and understand that the church and yes ALL churches are in the process of obscuring and excusing the open, blatant and chronic abuse of young boys. That person is also complicate with the abuse of that child.

I too struggle with the existence of a Supreme Being and, It is with great difficulty at times that I choose to believe He/She exists.

I have to admit that I am enjoying the frenzied rationalizations of my Catholic friends about all the revelations coming from the Pope and the Satanic Others. But it is really sad that all of this muck took so long to get exposed.

Too many people viewed priests and bishops as not subject to the drives to sin, that all the rest of us have. Since they also are all too human, this was never a realistic attitude to take. But it was sufficient in many cases to stymie abuse allegations.

Jesus warned us that there would be false prophets coming, and also recommended drastic punishments for those who would abuse children. But amazingly enough the latter punishments were never applied when these bastards were caught! And there are evidently a lot of abusers. Many of them are in high positions of influence in the Church. This is increasingly obvious despite the frantic cover up efforts by Pope Frank and his buddies.

I left the Church once I realized that all of the Catholic priests I know are political liberals. Even the non-limp wristed ones. Every time the Progressives seize power, their first item on the agenda is the extermination of Christianity. One would think that the clergy and hierarchy might know enough modern history to at least ponder this a bit.

I also realized that the Church is obsessed with money, and no wonder! Buying the silence of abuse victims and settling lawsuits about abuse does not come cheap.

ZoeZooLander - "But doesnt it make you wonder why those who have been abused have not screamed bloody murder and made those who are in law enforcement do something."

That is a whole lot of noise: You do not have to look too hard or long to see the worst acts against humanity have been when the most noise is being screamed by those committing the crimes.

What your above statement does is add more noise to the confusion. You are telling me because I did something bad against someone in the past that I will not come forward when someone harms me. That is false right on the surface and cuts through the entire premise of your argument.

On top of that you are stating that a child, who may or may not have stolen an extra cookie, lied to his/her parents or gone to bed without brushing his/her teeth is guilty too.

The biggest reason victims do not come forward is because they know the system is rigged against them. Our law informant is NOT on your side, as long as the church hides the truth they are NOT on your side.

We are not talking an isolated incident, we are not even talking a Jerry "Child Rapist" Sandusky incident, we are talking a cover up of pathological abuse against children, perpetrated, by the leaders of a sovereign nation and you (Myself included) want to do nothing about it.....Except wait for God to act.

Oh ghee my house is on fire, I guess the flames will go out when God wills them to. I have the free choice to stand up against this type of child abuse and I believe it is my duty.

Karl is doing an excellent job in dragging this putrid carcass into the light and he is in his own ways paying the price for this as I am paying my own price for reading and understanding his articles.

Any and all religions that profess to be Christian but allow the open mockery of God's word is saying they have NO foundation in Christ words and are in fact an anti-Christ.

And yes that does shake my belief in a Supreme Being. But I go back to God or Ameba I choose God.

Because of the trauma and shame of being raped by another man. Can you imagine the embarrassment of standing up and telling the public about having to give a BJ to another man or of being raped in the ass?

Now to the real question, did the Pope ever use the word "justice".

From the spiritual to the secular, every organization eventually loses their way as they become unwieldy and the resources they garner become irresistible to the psycho-sociopaths who crave power & wealth. We're a flawed species and nothing will change that. Maybe there's merit in what G.K. Chesterton said: "Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and not tried."

I place little faith in most groups of people and none in larger ones. As to questioning the good Lord, Job tried that tact and it yielded a strong rebuke and some perspective he sorely lacked.

As an amateur astronomer, I see design in the cosmos and I think that where there is design, there is a designer, even if I cannot completely comprehend that entity; that's why it's called faith and to borrow from Chesterton's wit again: "It is absurd for the evolutionist to complain that it is unthinkable for an admittedly unthinkable God to make everything out of nothing, and then pretend that it is more thinkable that nothing should turn itself into everything."

Atheism requires a long leap of faith as Christianity does; some argue even larger.

First time to post, long time reader. I have truly appreciated Karl's clarity and perspective on so many topics.

I was raised as a Catholic by parents who really struggled with all the events in the Catholic church from the second Vatican counsel forward. One of the topics that has always intrigued and fascinated me were stories of various Marian apparitions. Now it takes a leap to believe that apparitions are possible and have occurred. One of the reasons that I'm so fascinated are that some of the purported message appear to be coming true.

The message of Our Lady of Akita to a Japanese nun in 1973 was: "The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres... churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.
The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sorrow. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them. "

Take it for what it's worth.

So Francis the great hypocrite attempts to deflect judgement by making FALSE accusations against the accusers. He has moved from the "they are liars" category to "people without mercy". Why should people have mercy with criminals will not even admit to wrong doing? Instead he find ways to hide it or intimidate witnesses.

Francis' real problem is with JUSTICE. He is an anathema to what the church teaches and was supposed to represent. I will not weep and I hope he is the LAST pope of the idolatry and whoring this church has come to represent.

Well I hope Francis has a special surprise waiting on him. I just wish it could send him to his gravenow and perpetuated beyond if possible. These robots are total tops and they will have a searing hot one just for him and his supporters/accomplices. The also work as a team and well programmed in his "priestly" grooming practices.

"I'm increasingly convinced there is no God for one simple reason"

Go ahead, fill in the blank _________, because there are many more than "one simple reason". So many more.

Here, let me help: I'm convinced there is no God, because, if I was God, then I'd stike down not just the Pope, but the Vatican, too. In fact, if I were God, then I would have struck down the Devil himself long, long ago --- long before he tempted Eve. And none of this wickedness would have happened. If I were God, then I would have prevented sin and wickedness.

If I were an all powerful God (omniscient, omnipotent) then I wouldn't have created Adam in such a way that he could fail..... Why would I do that, if I were God?

All of the above thoughts, and so many more, entered my mind when I was yet a boy and later on as a teen.

It all boils down to this: I'm not God, and neither are you. I was just a boy, and now I'm just a man. As such, I've figured out a few things along the way: mankind is subject to many unknowns and many more unknown unknowns. And that's true whether you believe there is a God or not.

Personally, I think God only knows some things, and man has a whole lot to learn, yet. In fact, the more I know the less I know.

There is one small thing that I do know, however, from a lifetime of experience: I should never try and convince an inveterate atheist otherwise. And I shouldn't waste my very limited time on explaining anything to an agnostic unless he is already actively studying and diligently researching and doing the mental heavy lifting on his own. And most people will NEVER put in the years of study necessary to become erudite. And even then, in some individuals I've found that belief in God trancends human knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

Belief in God amounts to in some people a wonderful gift of Holy Spirit. Plain and simple. So what I've learned is people either believe or they don't believe. I've learned that God has His own reasons that both they and I don't yet understand. And no amount of "convincing" will change some people's minds.

And I think that's just the way God wants it to be --- for now.

The paradox of free will is that those possessing it have the free will to say pffffft to God, government, party, parents, and even their own best interest. How often do we see people deciding against their own long-term best interest because of their short-term selfish desires? I am guilty of that far too often.

If God went around zapping everyone who said pfffft to Him, earth would be an empty place. Empty.

Though examples exist of God taking immediate action (such as Ananias, Sapphira, the sons of Aaron, and even Herod), those instances are rare. People only counterfeit things of value; Christians and the church have been counterfeited since the book of Acts. Pope Satan isnt a new phenomenon.

The shame is that so many people will look at the counterfeit, recognize it for being not like Jesus, then reject Jesus because of it. In such cases, the counterfeiter wins twice.

Saul went around murdering Christians but God chose not to zap him; instead he was converted and gave his life to Jesus. The good news is that Paul did nothing to earn the grace of God; neither did I. But if the story ended before the road to Damascus and I had suffered at the tip of Sauls spear, I would probably also be questioning the goodness of God. Thankfully, God has more chapters to write.

His theology is, as usual, seriously whacked.

To conclude that the congregation is as evil as Satan if they accuse the clergy like Satan does God assumes the accusation is JUST AS FALSE. Otherwise the comparison has no logical basis.

No, what he is really saying is DON'T YOU DARE QUESTION US. We are above your scrutiny.

Karl you said you didnt believe there is a god because YOU want God to deal out judgement on YOUR timetable and by YOUR sense of justice. So lets take a look at you. Have you ever stolen something? If you have you are a thief. Have you ever lied? If so then you are a liar. You are guilty of breaking Gods laws. So if you demand that God deal with those other offenders he must also deal with you for your sin against him. And besides where do you get your sense of justice? If there is no God and we are just left to our own devices why does it bother you when people do supposedly evil things? Who gets to decide what is right and what is wrong? If each man gets to decide for themselves what is right and wrong then what laws were broken? Or should society as a whole or maybe the demon-rats get to decide what is right and what is wrong? Society changes and Muslims think it is ok to rape, kill, enslave, and destroy according to their idea of right and wrong? So if there is not a God who judges the living and the dead and has righteous judgements who gets to say what is right and what is wrong?
What about you Maynard Mr Vomet in your mouth? Can I stand you up against Jesus Christ and see how pure you are? Can you say you have never sinned?
I am not justifying these vile men who abused boys, what I am saying is God wants people to repent of their sins and not do them again. And if they have broken the law they should be held accountable to the righteous authorities.
God is merciful which means he has not given all men what they deserve which is death for the sins we have committed against him. He also set up human government to punish evil doers. The men who made up the government were suppose to be God fearing men who shunned evil, only then could they administer justice justly . Wicked men cannot administer justice justly because they are corrupt and justice will be corrupt. This is where we are at today.
Do the men who have done these vile things deserve to be punished? YES, YES, YES. They are worthy of death. And I never said any different. But if human government doesnt met out justice it is our faults because we put up with it, you have said as much every stinking day here on the market ticker as you blast people for letting the government allow the medical industrial complex, suckerberg, Mook, and Bezos get away with breaking laws.
And you mutt, you are an idiot. I never said anything like you are accusing me of. If people who are wronged or abused dont tell someone in authority about their offenders how exactly do you expect them to be held to account, wishful thinking? If a person covers-up a crime that person becomes complicit dont they? Karl says the government is complicit in the medical industrial complex screwing over millions of people by bankrupting them and government does nothing.
I believe in the God of the Bible. He created mankind for himself and he loves them and wants to be reconciled to them. None of us deserve anything because we have all sinned against him and are deserving of death. I am so glad that God didnt give me what I dersrved for 17 years while he waited for me to repent and ask him to forgive me. Now I live for Christ waiting for him to met out his righteous judgement according to his justice and timetable not mine. It it were up to me I just might be the only person on the planet.

Alwaysaskwhy,

Welcome to the forum.

I'm very aware of the Akita message. And also prophecies of Our Lady of Good Success about Our times (20th Century) from over 400 years ago.

Let's not forget Fatima and the miracle of the sun in 1917 witnessed by thousands and very well documented. Part of the message was that more people will go to hell for sins of the flesh than anything else. But there was much more to the message. And it's possible connection to the vision of Pope Leo XIII in 1884.

It seems like there is some kind of cleansing/purging going on everywhere at once. At a time where there just seems to be some much "crazy" going on in our "culture". All over our "passions", many of which are "against" nature. Everyone thinks they can do what ever they want. It's their right! But, their "rights" become others "responsibilities". This "culture" of permissiveness is like a boiler started to explode. It may help explain the sudden popularity of Jordan Peterson. Deep down inside, many of us are searching for answers to what is so messed up with our society.

We see this blowup in Hollywood (Harvey Weinstein...), the media (Matt Lauer...) - and the latest Les Moonves. Anyone can become a slave to their passions, there are many including the opioid "epidemic" .

And some passions are just are obvious to most of us as abhorrent, such as in the Catholic church involving homosexuals clerics and young boys and seminarians. But, making matters worse - the permissiveness of these acts, coverup and now - silence.

And who wants to come forward as Flapp gave reasons above. A DA in the PA report said he ignored an abused kid because he didn't want to loose the Catholic vote in an election.

God is not asleep. He see's it all. Maybe this applies...

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (1 Peter 4:17).

For those interested - read the whole Akita message. Scary stuff.

And for all of you that are loosing faith, I get it. I'm not going to argue with you on that.

And what do I get? THREATENED to be banned just like Facebook, google, YouTube because you dont want to debate.
BENTHERE retard? Really just because someone has a different opinion that you, you demean them and call them retarded? That is a progressive tactic because you are afraid of the conservation. Why do people on the right whine and complain about what the left does then turn around and do exactly that same thing.
I see all of you here on this board are atheists and that is fine with me if you want to not believe in God, but what if you are wrong? Instead of demeaning people who you dont agree with why cant you have a civilized conversation with others. And just maybe you can try to understand each other. Not agree but understand.

Adamsrm,

Well said. And I think I'm going to borrow your term "pfffft" anytime I have this type of Biblical conversation with youths. It's an excellent onomatopoeia.

Regarding the Catholic Church:

"Thankfully, God has more chapters to write". I agree, but I can't see a happy ending for the Vatican. And this Pope seems no less cunning than his father the Devil.

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it" - Jesus Christ speaking to and rightly "accusing" the religious hypocrites....

I might get banned for posting this but I'm going to say it.

My father told me a lot of falsehoods when I was a child as a prank. He had me convinced that when you get your drivers license an anal probe was installed to operate the turn signal (I couldn't sees his left hand). He also convinced me that Jesus spoke German. This was a problem at CCD as you might guess and my hands were repeatably beaten with a ruler.

Maybe he was right.

Sometimes the following in true.

Being a Christian would be easy if it weren't for your fellow Christians.

Yes, our brothers and sisters in Christ are sometimes a pain and sometimes worse than that. As a Christian it bothers me when iniquity is identified but then not confronted because it might be "inconvenient". A lot of this could have been stopped and prevented years ago if leadership had not been afraid to make the tough choice.
