I was literally left in stitches by this....

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz said Tuesday he won’t let radicals like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders steal the spirit of the Democratic Party and doubled-down on his attack on fellow liberals who “shunned” him at Martha's Vineyard.

“I won’t let the Democrats steal my party from me. I want to regain the center,” Dershowitz told WABC Radio’s “Curtis and Cosby” show, noting that he will remain a Democrat as “as long as there’s some chance the Democratic Party can return to normalcy.”

Heh look at that -- free speech!

Both in the execution thereof and the refusal thereof.

Funny how one gets protection and the other derision.  Yet both are the same, which means it's the person's leaning politically that matters, not whether they're speaking.

“These are people who have asked me for help over the years, who have asked me for support when their kid gets busted on a marijuana charge, or on possession of alcohol, I’m the first one they call,” he added. “But as soon as I defend the rights of Donald Trump or anybody else they disagree with, I’m am a pariah.”

So it took Alan being the target of a refusal to speak before he figured it out.

Take heed folks: That means it works.

Shunning is peaceful, it's legal and it works.

Do you need anything more to understand why this is quite-arguably the most-important tool you have?

Interesting how these people always like to pretend they are the "center". Last place I want to be is the center of a swirling pit of pig manure. Nothing like being the eye of the malestrom that supports the ****e circling the drain to take everything with it - including eventually the eye itself!

And it took Alan how long to figure all this out? He didn't see it coming?

More cheap-ass (lack of) virtue signaling by the far-left.

One set of rights for them and not for everyone else. I have been traveling for the last week in the west and I am really picking up an undercurrent of strong ill-will toward the far left.

This is true. Shunning is very powerful. Humans are social creatures and being shunned touches a deep nerve. It's non-violent and very effective.

I had a sudden epiphany reading that, that political factions find their counterparts in religious institutions.
Republican believers seem to be huge un-moving monolithic entities like Catholic and Eastern Orthodox, that thrive on authority and tradition and great principles as long as they don't have to actually follow them. But will visit their principles on Easter, Christmas, and election day.
Democratic groups seem to be the storefront churches of politics in the ghetto that love their singing and clapping, and other virtue signalling, but want to believe what they WANT to believe. And as soon as the get up to about 200 people somebody will decide that half the congregation isn't sufficiently righteous or holy and split into factions. And some lively young preacher with a good set of lungs is welcome as long as he knows his place. But if he does something foolish like tell all the church ladies they shouldn't be sporting all those fancy expensive hats he's dead meat.

Wait until he finds out that he's on the list because he's a white, heterosexual, patriarchal male. Do you think he'll stick around then?

Seems to me that Alan Dershowitz is looking for a way to remain in the public eye. He may believe what he's saying but if it wasn't for his own interests I doubt he'd be pushing his narrative.

JMTC and I am a skeptical bastard.

the best part of shunning is when other people put social pressure on you to: :just be nice, go to some event as it is "their day," like everyone, not be judgemental, etc. no matter how nicely you refuse, you still get pressed and this gives you a chance to state your case calmly, respectfully and completely AND add another person to the list right to his face.

have to add, one of the greatest honors my spouse bestowed on me was refusing the invitation of one of her relations as i would not associate with their organization for the event. your loved ones have to be freely on board for this to work and it helps spread the message as your circle grows to do the same. it used to be called cultural values. my neighbor could not be more different than me, but through our conversations, he and his family (extended as well) have dumped a few organizations and individuals.
