Cut the crap Zucker****er.

You know good and ******n well that one of the largest sources of data comes not from what is "shared" on Facebook but from all the other sites around the Internet that have Facebook "login" and "like" buttons and that you do not have to click or use them to be tracked and profiled.

You can reasonably give consent -- assuming you are fully and fairly informed as to the scope of intended use -- when you actually take some action for which you can rationally anticipate will include that information being given.  For example if you are on Facebook and actually share something then it is reasonable to assume that Facebook will use that information.

You cannot possibly give consent to the fact that you read The Market Ticker, and the specific article in question being read, being transmitted to Facebook because there is no way for you to know in advance that the buttons and login are there nor is there any way to opt out of such data snooping, collection and use.  It is for this reason that said buttons have been permanently removed from this site and will never return.

Not one jackass Senator and, it appears, not one boot-licking Representative, has or will bring this up nor threaten that black-eyed, drugged-appearing son-of-a-bitch sitting in front of the House Committee today on this point and yet it is the issue, standing tall among all others.

YOU CANNOT CONSENT TO THAT WHICH OCCURS BEFORE YOU ARE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW IT HAPPENED.

**** you Congress; you know good and ******n well this is the issue and you are intentionally ignoring it, as is the so-called "business media".  Every last one of you deserves to be hit by an asteroid right here, right now, and that rat bastard company's headquarters ought to take a refrigerator-sized rock from the heavens at 25,000 miles an hour right damn now.

****erTurd in a billionaire. He is not bound by any law. The questioning is purely for show as heavily padded Facebook envelopes keep being passed under the table.

All of these committee hearings are the biggest circle jerks on the planet.

They are all laughing at us.

Per CNet: "Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Senate Commerce Committee, which are scheduled to conduct a joint hearing with the Facebook chief on Tuesday, have received a total of $604,000 in contributions since 2007, according to the nonpartisan and nonprofit Center for Responsive Politics. Commerce Committee members received $369,000 in contributions, while Judiciary Committee members received $235,000 over the period."

"On Wednesday, Zuckerberg is addressing the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he is expected apologize for the social network's role in spreading fake news and hate speech, allowing foreign countries to interfere in elections, and failing to protect the user data. Members of that committee received nearly $381,000 in contributions since 2007, according to CRP."

Can't expect certain issues like consent to be raised when the inquisitors are on the payroll.

Nothing will come of all of this. It's all a song and dance to allow people with power (media, politicians) to extract money for personal benefit from FB. FB has plenty of money, so what will ensue is just a bit of a tussle on how much they are willing to part with for this noise to die down. In the mean time, MZ will be groomed in the art of politics and diplomacy and you'll see the power of the best PR firms as FB becomes one of the most loved companies.

Right out of "Starving the Monkeys". Although at this point, starving them is way down on my list. I prefer Karl's rusty chainsaw for starters.

Just maybe Russia will send over one or two or a few hundred of its own "smart missiles" to Washington in response to Trump's attack on Syria. If I'm lucky I'll get to watch it unfold from my bunker while Mr. Facebook is testifying... Poetic Justice...

Just happened to walk thru the room and heard Representative Kathy Castor ask these questions to Zuckerberg. I found a short video at this link
http://digg.com/2018/mark-zuckerberg-tes....

It is currently on the 1st page, but could be moving to succeeding page. Look for the paragraph titled "Zuckerberg Struggles To Explain Non-User Tracking"

With Rep. Castor the bastard couldn't think of his lies fast enough. He ended up stuttering all over his responses. He was afraid of revealing too much.

I have to say that Z-Pig is one of the creepiest people I have ever seen.

Spectator area.... hmmmm. Bring back the old Roman colosseums. We have more than enough of these pigs to keep the masses entertained.

added.....
Z-Pig looks like he is on Xanax or something similar -little eye movement, his pupils look dilated, and very little body movement. His speech pattern is just as monotanous. These things were the first thing I noticed when he spoke.

To me it looks like Rep. Kathy Castor got him right in the nuts, but nobody cares.
People just flat out don't care about their privacy and what facebook knows about them.
If the stats were available I'd say it would be something like 99.9999% of the internet users that seriously give a ****. Some might say they do but still do nothing about it.

Instead of using the full four or five minutes allotted to question Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg about user privacy and his business, some lawmakers used time to ask the CEO for favors.

Why it matters: These requests could have easily been made outside of this hearing, but the event is being broadcast, and constituents could be tuning in.

"My state, I'm from West Virginia, and thank you for visiting and next time you visit, if you would please bring some fiber because we don't have connectivity in in our rural areas like we really need, and Facebook could really help us with that," said Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV).

"I hope you might commit to returning to Westchester County [where Zuckerberg grew up] perhaps to do a forum on this or other things. I hope youll consider that. Well be in touch with you but I know that Ardsley High School is very proud of you," said Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY).

Weve got a lot of drone activity going on in our district, whether its University of Virginia or Virginia Tech. Wed be happy to help out there too, said Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-VA), with regard to Facebook's efforts to expand internet access.

"Let me suggest that perhaps you look some place perhaps in the middle of the North American continent for some people [referring to diversifying Facebook talent]. Maybe even your next big investment of capital could be in some place like, let's say Bismarck, North Dakota," said Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), in a half-joking tone.

There were plenty of other friendly moments, including members of Congress who thanked Zuckerberg and Facebook for their efforts supporting STEM and innovation.]

All of them opened wide for chunky.

Having hearings on CSPAN is nothing more than an opportunity to get political advertising clips for the next election. It is only for show and takes away from it's true purpose. Time and time again, it's grandstanding or they use their allotted time to make a statement and the person testifying doesn't ever get to answer because all the time is used up. If it is not televised (unless it is of national concern, kill it or restrict these clowns from abusing it.

Rep. Debbie Dingell's line of questioning was not bad. The four minute rule is asinine, but then again they are all a bunch of assclowns.

I noted that Zuckerberg, in responding to a question about whether a platform as broad as his should be required to allow free speech on his platform, stated about terrorist propaganda but also more broadly about any speech which could inform people's ability to harm others, that he didn't see a place on his platform for such things, and that with respect to the first amendment,

Quote:
I just don't think that it is the kind of thing that we want to allow to spread on the internet

So. Free speech "zones" are OK if they're behind closed doors with an audience of one or two. But not in today's public square. No sirree.
