Ryan is apparently stepping down.

The same Ryan that has presided over the destruction of any sort of fiscal discipline.

The same Ryan that has refused to regular order for budgets and appropriations.

The same Ryan that likes to claim to have some sort of "principles" when the only one he really has is maintaining the lie factory in DC and, what's far worse, the extortion and extraction system set up by the medical monopolists (never mind others.)

May I remind you that a number of "large companies" have negative tax rates, Amazon among them.  Yet Ryan ran the horse****, along with Trump, that corporate tax rates are too high.

This was a damnable lie when firms like Amazon are literally paid by the US Government to exist.  No, that's not hyperbole, it's fact.

Not only does the firm play all sorts of subsidy games with the US Postal Service it was literally paid over $100 million in tax year 2017 by the Federal Government to be in business in the form of a negative income tax rate.

All of this didn't start with Speaker Ryan, but he has not only done nothing to curtail any of it he has expanded the theft on an insane basis, especially in the medical field.  The so-called "tax reform" could have consisted of removing the means to game those negative effective rates -- all of them -- and imposed a flat corporate tax rate.  That would have helped.  So would have The Fair Tax.

Ryan insisted on and pushed neither -- nor has TRump.

This nation is headed for a fiscal cliff that will destroy the nice, pleasant times that America has had.  If you think the partisan wrangling and hatred expressed by both sides toward the other is nasty now just wait until the entitlement checks cannot clear and interest rate expense skyrockets, forcing out that so-called "mandatory" spending.

It's coming folks, and my best guess as I've pointed out now for years places the time frame on that somewhere right around the end of Trump's first term.  The midterm elections in November will almost-certainly lead to loss of a Republican majority in The House and shaving of the small margin in the Senate.

But the real bloodbath -- and it has a decent chance of being the true sort of bloodbath rather than just the political type, will arrive when the gap between tax revenue and spending blows out dramatically in the next few years and the government is forced to chop the checks.

At the same time we are playing "wag the dog" right here and now, which has a very real possibility of blowing up in our face -- literally.

Got SPF 50,000 sunscreen "just in case"?

But even if you don't need it you better start thinking and acting to deal with the inevitable fiscal collision that will occur within the next few years.  Not decades in the future, not even one decade in the future -- but likely during this Presidential term.

I'd had my fill of that Eddie Munster looking ****er long ago but his bull**** "that's not who we are!" Routine during the last election made me wish for all kinds of horrible things to happen to him.

I would prefer that a school bus sized iron-nickel meteorite slam into Mordor on the Potomac to get rid of our professional vermin problem. But short of that, we'll, keep poking that nuclear armed bear and we might just have to settle for the plutonium version, instead.

I'm interested in hearing what the community is doing to deal with what is coming.

Not intending this to be a prepper/SHTF thread, but I have no idea if what I'm doing is useful or if the consequences can even be avoided.

The consequences cannot be avoided.

If you are in ANY WAY dependent on the medical system you are going to suffer horribly or die. This is especially true if you're dependent on continuing, frequent and intense levels of care.

I have posted a volume of Tickers on this subject over the last 10 years including things people can do to mitigate some of this risk -- but no, you can't avoid it and you can bet the government will have its claws out in an attempt to prevent falling down the vertical face of the cliff -- and those claws will sink into anywhere it believes it can find a toehold.

I have read quite a few of those tickers dealing with health and reducing income/expenses. Just wondering if or how your readers are putting these things into practice.

On a personal note, LCHF and exercise 5 days/week, already living in a rural area and growing my own fruits, veggies and meat, milking goats, layers, paying off my mortgage at a greatly accelerated rate...for a start.

Agree this will not fully insulate me and will probably make me a target.

Consequences be damned! Party like it's 1999 and let the pain begin.

Ryan is just a rat leaving the ship. These guys have to know what's coming. Ryan thinks if he gets out before anything happens, he won't be blamed. Never forget!

Need to exterminate all the rats!

I have read the Ticker over the past several years and have seen the articles Karl wrote on diet, the health care scam and the budget issues that will lead up to the final implosion.

Is there a Ticker I can guide others to that has a description of what the "every-day person" will see at their level? I find each topic he has covered interesting, but the people I share with usually glaze over because they don't see how the that topic affects them directly, on a real level. I was hoping to find something that would put things into perspective for their everyday reality.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm ready-ish. Hard when you are below the poverty level. My mortgage isn't going away anytime soon, but it's fixed-rate, so inflation only helps (assuming income at least attempts to chase inflation).

Of course deflation and falling wages would hurt, but I'll jingle-mail and move in with the in-laws if it comes to that (and they won't make it long, since they fit into the "continuing, frequent and intense levels of care" category nicely). My wife would get more time with them, and I get to try to rapid-absorb decades of country living knowledge they are stuffed full of.

My wife isn't healthy, but her meds are all quality-of-life, not life-saving. After years of nagging, she finally got onboard with LCHF a few months ago thanks to a serious warning from her doctor. It is working a treat on her, she's reducing dosages (and pant sizes) at an astonishing rate.

I have read every Ticker on here since day 1.

I have read ALL kinds of other "stuff".

Consider this: The Chinese can print yuan and buy a real company like Smithfield. The SNB can print and buy US stocks. The global money system is an illusion. The global debt is staggering. Fiat money systems must expand else they collapse.

I used to be prepped in Virginia. Then I spent a winter in the Florida Keys and had an absolute blast! I figured it out. Sold everything and moved to the middle Keys where I LIVE.

My tiny place is paid for and bills are really low. Free health care. The fed pays me because I make so little. I pay no state tax. I spend most days however I want.

There is NOTHING you can do to prepare for what is coming other than some common sense things.

I live every day like its my last. I will accept my fate as it comes. Life is meant to be lived.

The ONLY thing you need to watch is available energy. Look at a chart comparing energy use and population growth. Want proof? Look at what happened with Iraq and look what happened in Rwanda.

Don't waste your life for excess fiat. Live now!
