Different people have said for years that the government has been a willing participant in the drug trade and not to stop it but encourage it. This to me gives proof to that. the war on drugs is a complete farce.

Going from memory here...no time to research...maybe others remember or can research...
Wasn't there a case of a Mexican drug trafficker killing a border agent with the end result being the Mexican government "touching base" with the US government (Bush/Obama Admin?) to secure the "scot-free" release of the drug trafficker back to Mexico?
Memory keeps recalling that is was a big "hub-bub" in the media for a while with the family crying foul and all..It was really odd that the Mexican Government stepped in to get this guy back...
Am I remembering right?
I wonder what Cartel that freed trafficker belonged to?

Could the top ranks of the .gov be active in the drug business? I don't know. Guess we'd know if we looked at heroin production and transport in Afghanistan. If production and distribution of heroin was heading for extinction under the Taliban, surely our government has finished the job and snuffed out all aspects of that trade. Seriously, there is a growing season for poppies, so it can't be that difficult, right? We have been spending massively on the war on drugs, so surely we have won and illicit drugs are no more.
