Public Corruption On Display: The Drug War Locally

From The Destin Log:

Eleven additional arrests have been made by the Okaloosa County Multi-Agency Drug Task Force (DTF) in the final phase of its dismantling of the large scale drug trafficking organization in Destin dubbed “Tres Amigos”. The DTF was assisted by the Northwest Florida U.S. Marshal Violent Fugitive Task Force.

The DTF initiated an investigation into several members of the Gabino Ortiz family in Destin who were suspected of distributing large quantities of cocaine and marijuana in the Northwest Florida area. (Previous news releases attached).

So this is all about a drug gang that operated domestically and distributed large quantities of drugs into the local population, right?

Uh, not quite.

In June, Gilberto Parada (aka “Peso”) of Panama City, DOB 07/14/76 ,was sentenced in Pensacola federal court to 165 months in prison on drug charges for his involvement with the "Tres Amigos" case, the Ortiz drug trafficking organization operating out of the Destin area. Another suspect, Luis Delarca of Fort Walton Beach, DOB 11/14/82, was sentenced to 60 months on narcotics and other charges.

This portion of the case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Pensacola. Both subjects face deportation after their release from federal prison.

Ah, so in addition to being drug runners these two are also illegal invaders, which the Obama Administration refuses to prosecute for that crime and which the Republicans assert are "essential" to "do jobs Americans won't."

You mean like running drugs, yes?

It seems we have plenty of Americans who will do that too, and seeing as the money is so good as a direct consequence of the laws against people using certain drugs while others are perfectly legal, that artificially-inflated market rages, fueling associated crime against people and property.

We ought to be honest about what we're doing and the media should start by discussing examples like this:

Zambada-Niebla claims that under a “divide and conquer” strategy, the U.S. helped finance and arm the Sinaloa Cartel through Operation Fast and Furious in exchange for information that allowed the DEA, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal agencies to take down rival drug cartels. The Sinaloa Cartel was allegedly permitted to traffic massive amounts of drugs across the U.S. border from 2004 to 2009 as long as the intel kept coming.

So, you see, you only get prosecuted for being (1) an illegal immigrant and (2) running drugs (and guns) if you are a member of the wrong crime family.

If you're the "favored" one (by our government) then you may transport and sell all the drugs -- and guns -- you want.

Drug war my ass.  This is all about making sure that the "favored" ones have no competition.  Our Sheriffs and other so-called "prosecutors" just have to make sure it "looks good" on the evening news and justifies their ever-blooming budget and jail cell counts.

Nailed that one.

Speaking of "favored" drug dealers, let's not leave out Big Pharma:

Quote:
So of all the drug addicts in America today, you can divide them into two camps:

1) People addicted to street drugs.
2) People addicted to prescription drugs.

The people in group #1 (street drugs) are taken to jail where they are given prison sentences. People in group #2 (prescription drugs) are taken to their doctor where they are given prescription refills. It's all really the same narcotics, it's just that one group is legal and the other is illegal.”

I agree on the pharma idea. Start doing the addition. They are putting children on drugs, by order of the state. These drugs lead to other problems. There should be a bounty paid to pharma to get some people on these drugs, as the bills grow to the sky.

As far as pill addicts? They are, next to meth heads, the craziest people out there. The doctors have to cut them off, due to the means government employs in examining prescription records for certain drugs. Then the tactics change. The simplest one is to steal a prescription pad and write your own. I have met people that have done that, some getting caught. Or, you can get another doctor or cross state lines and get another doctor. Lastly, there is a huge black market for these drugs and in the case of opiates, heroin is always an option. Or, a place where the problem is the greatest, the hospitals, where nurses steal the drugs that are supposed to be given to patients.

Never thought, heard of that one...man the thieves are getting creative..

Here's another new one I've just learned of and never dreamed of...if you're a clerk running a cash register in a department store where returns are done at your register (no receipt required like JCP)...just grab something off the shelf, return it, and pocket the cash!

Local 21 year old did this to the tune of $4650 before he got caught...idiot returned $1000 in one shot with no receipt...red flags went up..BUSTED!...probably using it to buy drugs...LOL!

This is pretty much the modus operandi of government in all areas of economic regulation and legislation. No reason they wouldn't apply their monopoly granting privilege in the Drug War also. Corruption, corruption, everywhere you look, corruption!

What I've found interesting in studying "drug busts" in the last 20+ years is the glass ceiling. Drug busts only go up so far >>>>>>>>>> until the banks are involved in laundering serious cash. The alphabet soup agencies have their own little corner of the market sliced up. If you wander into their well oiled machinery...well, Viola!

You get busted.

It's pretty funny what gets routinely transported inside nuke sub missile silos. I'll just leave it at that.
