Here 'ya go!

The woman said she spent five hours in a Cartagena, Colombia, hotel room with an agent, and while she barely got cab fare out of him, she could have gotten information that would have compromised the security of U.S. President Barack Obama if the agent had any. "Totally," she replied when asked.

"The man slept all night," said the woman, who was identified by her lawyer as Dania Londono Suarez. "If I had wanted to, I could have gone through all his documents, his wallet, his suitcase."

She called the Secret Service agents caught up in the scandal "fools for being from Obama's security and letting all this happen."

Yep.

In a discussion on The Forum in "The Bar" I said exactly this previously:

I understand you don't get it, but I do.  Being involved with hookers is inherently inviting unknown people with an unknown agenda into your private space which contains potentially-sensitive material (including your person and the tools of your trade) while you are compromised and/or sleeping.  It is inherently dangerous to you and to the security of anything you possess and thus your mission.  You're on duty -- period -- while you're on assignment.

What are you going to do the next morning?  Sweep your room (again) for possible things left behind?  Bugs, etc?  How do you know anything you had in the room with you that was electronic wasn't accessed while you were sleeping?  You're assuming these "hookers" just wanted money for sex.  That's insanely naive.

You just don't do things like that while on assignment.  That's all.  And yes, I do believe it is just cause for revocation of a clearance.

And there you have it, from the prostitute involved.  The opportunity for malice was both present and, had she chosen to do so, easily-exploited.

Yeah.

My father is retired Secret Service. He has been on many advance details to set up security for a traveling President both here and abroad. When this scandal broke, he was completely disgusted at the unprofessional nature of the agents involved. He said that when he was active, nothing like this was going on that he knew of. He said the caliber of agents has decreased as of late.

I now believe this entire scandal is a purge of non-supporters.

A retired colonel I greatly respect used to always tell me "The fish stinks from the head". I'm certain that applies in this situation as well.

These Agents probably had less angst about being escorted back to the field office to face their respective Special Agent in Charge than they did about going home to face their wives. She's the one who holds the real hammer here. Perhaps a few were fortunate and found their **** on the front lawn and didn't need to go inside.

Stereotyping an entire generation, nice. I suppose it never occurred to you that maybe the younger generations have not seen a president worthy of taking a bullet for.

When we have politicians (remember Bill Clinton and Loral) who give away all our secrets to the highest campaign contributor who really gives a **** about proprietary secrets accidentally disclosed by gov't employees.

I think the agents were wrongfully terminated (apparently prostitution is legal in Columbia and they were off duty). If Obama's security was compromised Wall Street would find another puppet to replace him in short order.

You beat me to the punch, Mdm.

It has been widely rumored that the president and first lady have privately shown disrespect and outright contempt for both the military and their SS detail.

While that's absolutely no excuse for being unprofessional and not doing your job, I can see a few bad apples saying, "Fine, if that's all the value you put in us and our job, then..."

I am part of that generation Gen X, it seems that each generation has a bigger entitlement mentality than the next. That is what I am talking about. Although your point about bullet worthiness is duly noted.

Mdm, technically the job they sign up for is to take a bullet for the Office of the President. It's not supposed to matter to them who holds the position.

Personally I'd be more afraid of what new growths I'd have in subsequent weeks rather than my job - just like the secret service, protection isn't 100%. But to find out he slept(actual sleep) with her in the room; what a FN idiot! She could have done any number of things...broke into his cell, laptop, emails, copied his badge, glued his dick to his belly...the list goes on.

The older generations that have hardly contributed any funding for their social security and medicare when compared to the younger generations shouldn't throw stones about entitlement. The enablers of the biggest ponzi schemes in history calling the younger generations entitled...Thanks for all the debt.

"It's not supposed to matter to them who holds the position."

That's never how it pans out, as the long history of Palace assassinations carried out by personally selected Palace security (Imperial Guards, etc), demonstrates all too clearly.

Scumbags at the top tend not to survive for long, and those closest to them, become all too familiar, all too quickly, with just how much of a scumbag the person they are supposed to be looking after, really is.

Pissing in your own soup is never a good idea.

It's just more of the same old blame game I hear on TF all the time.

It's the young folks fault.
It's the Baby Boomers fault.
It's all you middle age folks fault.

As long as you want to play the blame game you have lost your creditability. These SS agents no matter how old or young should be fired.

I don't mean to pick on you specifically because that's a very common form of magical thinking but that concept doesn't make any sense at all.

If there really is an Office that has a separate existence from the person inhabiting it, and if this Office is so much more important than the person then just do away with the person and let the Office sign or veto bills and make appointments itself.

When these people whose job it is to protect the Office of the President but not the individual person himself go to the grocery store do they only purchase the idea of food and then pretend to eat it?

Obama made light of all this during the WH correspondents dinner by saying something to the effect that he had to leave early to get back to the WH before his SS Agent's curfew began.

Secrets to the nation's security and his own personal safety could have easily been compromised here and elephant ears thinks that's funny?

Obviously the lowering of standards has not only impacted the SS.

I understand, Abnormal. But I believe the distinction is made so that you don't only have democratic SS agents protecting a democratic president and vice versa for republicans. Rather, only the most well trained, qualified, and professional person holds the job instead.

I would also say that the Office is a larger entity than any one man who holds the position.

I'm probably not making myself very clear...sorry.

Then does the office of a CEO not exist also? The office is a position like any other and comes with certain requirements (see the US Constitution) and duties that only someone holding that particular office has to fulfill.

Dakine - you should hear some of the stories he has from personal experience...quite entertaining! For example, seeing several senator's wives in floor length ball gowns stradling & sliding down stairway banisters in the WH, completely hammered drunk. smiley

The principle is simple. The president is not sovereign. He is the instrument of the constitution as are the members of the armed forces. The president has no authority or right to order anyone in the armed forces to do anything that is unconstitutional or indeed illegal. If he does, then he need not be obeyed and such an order is proof in itself of a "high crime."

The present administration in Washington has done everything in its power to persuade that, in effect, the president IS sovereign. This is a lie and a pernicious doctrine that, if accepted, would make us all the servants of a king or perhaps a queen.

I have had old army friends argue to me that they DO think of the president as king and that they must think thusly because how else would they know whom to obey.

I think it must be said that such ideas are unworthy in those to whom the constitution and the people have entrusted so much.
