It wasn't just burglaries folks, it was also home invasions.
Those are the most-serious of felonies, on par with forcible******and homicide. "Hot robberies" are in fact one tiny step away from cold-blooded murder. Ask any real law enforcement investigator -- those who really do their jobs recognize that these are people you must get off the street because they will eventually kill someone in the commission of their crimes.

"An black 18-year-old"? How can they possibly screw up the very first word of an article and not even notice it. I know its not the New York Times, but still that is pretty sad. It looks like someone had originally wriiten "An African American 18-year-old", but then they changed it to "an black". Why would someone even bother to make such a change?

Has anyone released information on the angle of entry of the gunshot wound on Martin? Presumably, if he were on Zimmerman at the time Zimmerman fired, the wound would be traveling upward and be vastly different from a shot fired while Zimmerman and Martin were both standing.

The problem with "recent" history is that "recent"/current history will show that police can't be trusted in many places to actually live up to the standards they voice.
So, the real issue is and to me always was based on the evidence that the locals really were yokels who were not trusted to begin with.
You can try to push it off on everyone and everything else but the bottom line is that once there is lost trust then the actions are not believed by most anyone.
This is more chickens home to roost and the events are predictable.
It's past saving folks. Screaming won't help.

Or be killed while comitting said crime. These crimes are extremely rare in my area and I believe it is because almost every home is well armed.

What's odd is that the governor and Mrs. Corey are both Republicans. Surveys I've seen show their bases don't support prosecuting Zimmerman.

All media jump on this story almost at once, coinciding with a campaign by Crump etal.
President opens his yap about it, which is highly unusual.
Civil rights leaders show they care nothing about "civil rights" unless you;re black.
Media persists in one sided coverage, and misleading coverage.
Black supporters calling for bounties and other get a free pass.
State officials go out of their way to be non-professional in all aspects of their job. Present a charge that even non-lawyers saw immediately was a farce.
Its only odd because you think its not connected and their actions do not have a specific purpose or agenda that benefits "they".
OH and a side note. I was watching the telly yesterday, "Good Times" was going off. TV show known to be a groundbreaking show for showing a black family's life. The credits are rolling by. "GEORGE ZIMMERMAN" rolls by. coinky dink. I think he was the "tape operator". Not the same guy of course, but it was one of those hmmm moments. How fn common is the name GEorge Zimmerman.

I have not seen any "facts" and I suspect neither have you since everything you "know" about the "case" has come via the media or rumor or wishes.
Why not let the case, if it does, play out before you launch into histrionics over points I didn't make, but you WISH i had?

My observations of the Cory press conference when she laid charges.
1. She starts it off by talking about having prayer with the Martins.
2. She is wearing that large gold cross around her neck.
My own exp is that Christians wearing large crosses are the ones least likely to demonstrate good Christian behavior. If you come across someone wearing a large cross professing to be Christian, put your guard up.

AGAIN JJ you show how little you know about this case and the world in general. FACTS from the POLICE REPORT, and FACTS from the media count too, or was Crump making up his stories or just a hologram JJ.
Your once again self serving statements are full of crap. "HATE CRIMES" you tie this in to this case and once again present NO facts and in fact go against the FACTS known in the case. If there was a HATE crime it appears to have been on the BLACK side toward the non-black looking guy, who from all accounts that were there or witnessed said was the person doing the whoop-ass JJ.
I can read what you said in your post very well JJ, as can others. You blamed the actions/results on the local police department. That is what you did with no facts,.. NADA.
You want the case to "play out" why JJ, where is your evidence the local police did not do a thorough investigation. From what the FACTS are, they had ample opportunity to find a loophole in Georges Story, and with him having no attorney present to boot.
So if this is a case of the local police department committing and engaging in a conspiracy to cover up a "murder" where is your evidence JJ, I'll check back later to see, but I doubt you will have any, because people have looked and looked, and yet, there is not any found. So you tell us oh mighty JJ.

SAVING my last post. edited for Mortgage guy mn, to clear up some confusion on whether this case is automatically going to a courtroom trial.
There is still a "pre trial" hearing before this goes to a full blown trial if the defense wants it.
Its a hearing to see if they should proceed or not. This will be based on the evidence and did Zimmerman qualify for SYG, if so, the case will be dismissed then. Also I believe that even if SYG does not apply, then self defense law can be used also to dismiss the case.
From what I have read this usually happens in closed doors very soon before they go into the courtroom to set a trial date. The hours before that is set to happen, though it could happen at any Time before the actual appearance to set a trial date. I don't see any reason the defense would waive this.

You overestimate the effect of gravity. Yes, there is potentially an effect (vertical shot vs. pulled down by gravity) but it would only be measurable in isolation, under controlled conditions. Soft tissue wouldn't show this. Also, one of the "controls" would require the gun to be fired perfectly straight... the slightest downward angle could create a similar effect from a prone shot. Despite being a decent thought, physics makes that irrelevant.
However, there is plenty of perfectly relevant forensic info available. For example: gunpowder marks are a much better way to determine point-blank range (they were present & analyed) and the fact that Zimmerman's gun was recovered with a full magazine - i.e. had not cycled a new round into the chamber - says volumes (should have been ejected automatically, unless it was physically unable; this is strong support for Zimmerman's claim that Martin was trying to get control of the weapon at time of discharge).
If someone is on top of you, beating you and trying to wrestle a weapon away from you, would you make the reasonable assumption that said weapon is likely to be turned against you? Would you use that weapon in lawful defense in this case?
If yes, then A) the use of deadly force in self-defense is lawful and B) you might as well be George Zimmerman.

Saying "why not let the case play out?" is not an acceptable answer to all possibly criminal situations. Sometimes there is no "case" at all. When you have Alan Dershowitz advising the prosecutor to seek her own defense counsel in light of the possibility of her being tried for unjust prosecution, then maybe there should not even be a criminal case against Zimmerman. If they couldn't even charge the "case" without willfully leaving out exonerating evidence, that's not much of a case. So now there will be a trial. I would hope that the obviously woeful inadequacy of the prosecution case might calm the troubled waters, but the overwhelming evidence of guilt in the OJ trial didn't stop that trial from being a national nightmare.

The prosecution states that a shell casing was recovered at the scene. There is NO mention of the casing being in the gun. If so they should have so stated as part of evidence.
I saw Karl comment on this before but not sure where the information came from.
Can anyone confirm the shell casing did not eject from the gun?

I have corrected my prior comment. The fired round was ejected. However, the conclusion stands: what happened was the weapon was recovered with a full magazine. I was thinking less about gravity than the relative angle of the weapon to Martin, but I was imagining Martin sitting upright atop Zimmerman while beating his head and the shot coming from below his midsection. If he were leaning forward to beat Zimmerman or were wrestling with the gun, the gun could have been perpendicular to his body so the direction of entry would be less important than the powder burns you mention. The empty casing being in the chamber is confusing if the gun is a semi-automatic but logical if it were a revolver as the chamber wouldn't rotate until the weapon was cocked or the trigger pulled if it were a double action.

JJ has consistently been on the "Martin was killed because he was a black teenager" bandwagon the whole time. Then, when it's obvious what he's believed isnt holding up to scrutiny, he blames the police and says "let it play out." I've seen his bias in most of the threads about it, and still don't know WHY he has it, nor do I care honestly.
From what I've seen, it shouldn't HAVE to "play out" because there shouldn't even be a CASE. If it turns out to be that simple, I hope to see the "special" prosecutor's career in flames, NOT cities around the country. There will be NO excuse for riots. There will be plenty of BLAME there, from the Oval Office to all the major media outlets to every single last one of the criminal rioters themselves, but there will still be zero EXCUSE for them. If you can't contain your basest animalistic desires and choose NOT to partake in such things, you have no place in civilized society. Those who do act on those impulses should be shot as dead as the young man this case revolves around.
