Karl, you will know you are making progress when Holder and FBI put you on the no fly list like that occupy Oklahoma City guy.
I heard some pervert bank excuser talking about how the big run on MF Global probably resulted in both customer and MF Global trades being brokered into single clearing transactions, ( so JPM would not hold the bag ).

Somebody with standing needs to find a friendly federal court? Writ of MandamusA writ or order that is issued from a court of superior jurisdiction that commands an inferior tribunal, corporation, Municipal Corporation, or individual to perform, or refrain from performing, a particular act, the performance or omission of which is required by law as an obligation. The writ of mandamus can also be issued in a mandamus proceeding, independent of any judicial proceeding. Generally, such a petition for a mandamus order is made to compel a judicial or government officer to perform a duty owed to the petitioner. http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionar....

Someone should email Sheriff Joe and tell him to have a conference demanding that Holder arrest Corzine immediately or step down from office on the spot. He's the only one who's willing to call these guys on their bull****.

Christiangustafson wrote..MF Global is an easy test of the fundamental legitimacy remaining in the United States federal government.
I love it. Major fail. Prepare accordingly. Plus SCOTUS is hearing oral arguments on the individual mandate this month, another no-brainer. I expect a major fail there too.

Blago is in jail right now for just talking about money transfers.
Corzine actually orders transfers but yet he is not even on a prosecutors hit list?
Isn't it great to be politically connected to immunity?

Back on page 1, Frat asked whether this failure to prosecute would happen if R's were in charge rather than D's, and answered that yes it would still happen.
I just want to say that Enron happened on the R watch and went down and prosecutions followed. Ken Lay was a contributor and asked for help and was rebuffed. Maybe it is because it was ten years ago and things changed but even fully aware that Hanky Panky Paulson was an R appointee, I just thought this needed to be said.

Lay actually never faced the music. Skilling did.
It's true, one can point to just enough episodes of (apparent) justice to keep a questioning mind wondering. Still, the lion's share of the evidence is all on the one side.
A good pair of acid tests ... kudos
1) will Corzine be retained/prosecuted, 2) will supreme court overturn and obviously unconstitutional mandate.

Widgeon wrote..Lay actually never faced the music. Yes, he did. He was tried and convicted on 10 of 11 counts. IMO, the fact that he died awaiting sentencing and appeals prior to serving time does not mean that he "never faced the music". (Not intended as a defense of the Bush administration which, IMO, was arguably just as corrupt as Obama's.) ETA: The fact that his death meant that his family made out like bandits because the legal process of likely fines/clawbacks/restitution was stopped cannot be reasonably disputed.

Hello Dolly: FROM an MF Global Segregated Customer Account TO an MF Global London Account BOTH OF WHICH WERE HELD AT JPM “On the afternoon of Friday, October 28, MF Global transferred $200 million from a segregated customer account at JPMC to cover a $175 million overdraft in one of MF Global’s JPMC accounts in London,” $200 Million Transfer “On the afternoon of Friday, October 28, MF Global transferred $200 million from a segregated customer account at JPMC to cover a $175 million overdraft in one of MF Global’s JPMC accounts in London,” the memo says. “Ms. O’Brien wrote in an e-mail that the transfer was ‘Per JC’s [Jon Corzine’s] direct instructions’.” Barry Zubrow, JPMorgan’s chief risk officer, called Corzine to seek assurances that the funds belonged to MF Global and not customers. JPMorgan drafted a letter to be signed by O’Brien to ensure that MF Global was complying with rules requiring customers’ collateral to be segregated. The letter was not returned to JPMorgan, the memo said. Corzine, 65, in testimony in front of the House panel in December, said he did not order any improper transfer of customer funds. Corzine also testified that he never intended a misuse of customer funds at MF Global, and that he doesn’t know where client funds went. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-03-24....

American politics as a system has ceased to function, because the system has gone from representing people to representing money. And that is something that can only go well as long as the people have at least some of that money. - Automatic Earth 3/17/2010

No Peterm99, more corrupt. This stuff went down as Bush was going out the door. Prosecutions have gone down every year Obama has been in office and every year has been LOWER than Bush's last year. Being the cat was out of the bag, prosecutions should have skyrocketed, especially seeing as most of this stuff was going on in Federally insured funds.
Corzine, not only former CEO of GS, but Senator and Governor of New Jersey. Prime fund raiser for Ov and a guy Biden calls the best economist he knows. I think the economist has to do with knowing how to rob peter to pay paul.

"I know Karl will disagree on this, but I don't think they can be voted out. That's what is frightening. "
It's even worse than that.
You can vote them out, physically, but the system is so corrupt that anyone elected to the vacant position will become corrupted by the system in short order. It may not even be about money. It may be about elite thinking and rulers thinking they know what's best, to the contrary of the public.
What do you do if you throw the bastards out, and the new crop begin to think that they know better than the electorate? What happens if you throw THEM out, and the new ones vote against your interests again, just like the two previous groups?
What if elections won't change it no matter who is elected? D, R, L or I?
What if this is just the natural evolution of human civilisations, where all officials get to the point of civic unresponsiveness and two-tiered justice?
It's happened dozens of times before in history in many other places.

every American will have no choice but to consider the federal government to be nothing more than a bunch of felonious thugs -- from the Office of the President on down.
The memo is news. The rest isn't. I've been of this opinion for over 10 years now.

Salt, I think when it dawned on me was when the Mexican crisis hit in 1994. The explanation was the Mexican government spent too much money getting re-elected. Well, that money would have stayed prett much in the country. The money left the country through the wires of Goldman and others. Presto, Clinton brings in Goldman's Robert Rubin to become Governor of the IMF and a bailout happens so the bankers can get their money and the people of Mexico get the bill. Michael Hudson wrote a book called Super Imperialism, which when I am not feeling so tight, I am going to pony up and buy. I think it was written in the 1970's and goes into how America's bankers with the help of the IMP have looted the rest of the world. Now they are after us. Rubin blew the stock bubble along with Greenspan. I actually think Greenspan had his doubts until the bubble started perculating through the economy. Being we were in an advanced stage of a financial bubble, the seeming inflation of consumer goods didn't occur, so Greenie thought he had pulled off a miracle, when all he did was aid and abet Wall Street's looting of middle class savings.

Now for William Black on RT This is damn important. Black says the jobs act is nothing but a massive cover for fraud. We need to blow the cover on this game. Black says Congress is stonewalling any question on the bill. One more mark to fantasy game? Legalizing crime. Every yes vote should be kicked out of office. http://neweconomicperspectives.org/2012/....

Obama's justice department will never prosecute Obama supporters. Corzine, the black panthers, the trash at BATF, doesn't matter, if they are aligned with the marxit ****-stain in the white house they can do whatever they want.

This is no different then fraudclosuregate. These banksters knew they were immune from prosecution. It seems to me that they went balls to the wall committing every kind of fraud like they were completely protected from prosecution. They knew that the worst that would happen is more penny fines if they were called on the carpet for their fraud.
Look what happened. These clowns compounded fraud on fraud and walked away with fines when we know the money was stolen from the taxpayers to begin with to pay the fines.
Just ask the question of who would do what these guys did and continue to do with impunity? It seems to me that they cut a deal with this administration to guarantee no prosecutions no matter what they did in return for electing the current adminstration. Never believed in conspiracys until I watched 3 years of massive market manipulation, theft, fraud and destruction of our Constitution.
