Oh Darn, It Really Is About The FSA

Now that the hate mail has slowed down to one every minute or so, I think I should expand on my commentary about Sandra and her screaming about "birth control being a human right to be paid for by other people."

That, incidentally, is exactly what Ms. Entitled, who is attending a college with a near-$50,000 tuition bill annually, say much less whatever she has to pay for room and board, is griping about, and as I noted I'll lay even-money odds she's got a $100/month iPhone in her pocket while she's bleating about $15 or less in birth control pills which she demands you pay for.

In response some who commented on the forum tried to make the argument that stealing "just a little bit" via this sort of cost-shifting was just fine.

Well them I'm quite sure you won't mind this shining example of entitlement:

A young woman who won $1m on a state lottery has sparked outrage after she admitted to still claiming benefits.

Amanda Clayton of Lincoln Park, Michigan still claims $200 a month in food stamps and despite paying cash for a new home and car said, 'I'm still struggling.'

The 24-year-old added that she is entitled to the welfare handout as she has two homes to run.

That's right folks -- this wonderful example is pretty much the same thing.  She wins $1 million ($500,000 in cash, after taxes and as a lump sum) and turns around and buys a new car and a new house -- for cash.

But see, she's not working -- she wasn't before, and, well, she still isn't.  This means she was entitled to welfare -- food stamps, to be specific.

Her comment?

Clayton said she will keep using her Bridge card until the state cuts her off and said she deserves it.

'It's just hard, you know. I'm struggling,' she said.

I'm sure she deserves "it", but I'm not at all sure what "it" might be.

I am, however, quite certain that "it" is not $200/month worth of stealing from the rest of the taxpayers in the country when you have a half-million bucks and both a new home and car for which you paid cash.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what Sandra Fluke's screeching and Clayton's is, in truth, all about.  It is what the Marxists on both the left and right are arguing over -- exactly how much they should steal from each of us to buy votes with.

Hint: Whether you steal $1m or $0.01 it is still theft and is still wrong.

Hattip to "gantww" on the forum for the link to the story in the Daily Mail on Clayton.  I probably would have missed it....

Why shouldn't she keep using the card. It is, after all, part of the social contract safety net that a modern society has.

Good for her!

If she could afford $10 for lottery tickets, she can afford to feed herself. The article pictures her with a dog; who is paying for its food? Apparently, the $200 is for just herself, no children or other family members.

Duc and Low, I hope you are kidding.

Jones, you're right. It's like those people who get the house on that old ABC show but can't afford the gift taxes, RE taxes, upkeep, etc.

BTW, the article has a picture of the house. It's definitely not 450K, especially in Michigan. It's nice, but she didn't overbuy, I don't think.

Ok, now having pulled up the article and seeing the picture of her new house, she could NOT have spent the entire $500 large on that little bungalow and a new car. Where's the rest of the $$$??

I buy a lottery ticket or 2 when the pot gets big (when the odds actually favor the bet), only because I believe in the chance of getting hit by lightening. This idiot won $500,000, which means she believes in giving her money back to the state. I guess this means if they need a person to engage in research about the effects of getting hit by lightening to work cheap, she might go sit in a field for her benefits.

All kidding aside, this bitch should be put on a list where even if she is starving, her kids are starving, she should never get another dime. That is how section 8 works here. Just the idea she had money to buy lotto tickets while getting money from the state, should burn most people's asses. The fact she was playing a cheap lotto indicates she plays all the time and probably won't stop.

If I was in her position, I might buy a house, a cheap one. Sounds like she already had one. I would buy an annuity for 10 years to be sure I had money to pay the taxes and insurance. The rest I would save and likely go get some education and a job.

As far as birth control? Here is a case for it being free, as you never want a person like this to reproduce. The same goes for the law school *****, who might have a kid that takes after her. A free tubal litigation might be in order for both. I have thought for a long time the long term benefit of just paying some of these people and another country an amount around that lotto pay out to leave the country and not come back. $500 billion per million. It will be money well spent.

As Greece is finding out, the free **** is going to run out. The capacity to pay for the US is going to last as long as the dollar. Bernanke and company better get serious or they will find out too late they have screwed up badly. It might not happen until Bennie finds out his check won't buy a tank of gas.

From the article..

Mari, I don't have the law in front of me but if it was put in the story by the reporter that it was legal, and assuming the reporter reasonably checked it out before printing such, it is not stealing or immoral.

While I agree that this person is wrong, my problem with these pieces is that it often leads to painting everyone on public assistance as having the same mindset. There are criminals in every segment of society, as we're all well aware of here, and that they exist in the poorest segments should come as no surprise. Painting them all as "welfare queens," however, is downright disingenuous and I hope that doesn't happen as a result of this story.

My father used to joke that he never understood an idiot robbing a gas station for $100 instead of a bank $10,000.
His Reason? The Bible says ""Thou shall not steal." It don't say "Thou Shall Not Steal ALOT ""

Although I am not as religious as my father, there is a point in there.
