Regardless of the legalities, it looks like the Fed will be the lender of last resort for Europe (and perhaps, soon, Japan). (Laws? We don't need no stinkin' laws...)

Since most of this can never be paid back, at some point it becomes indistinguishable from simply monetizing their debt at our expense. We will eventually pay for it in the form of a default haircut, and/or dollar inflation.

I'm not sure anyone can predict how long it will be before the can will need to be kicked again, but I'm guessing they can keep kicking it down the road until after the next election in the U.S.

In the meantime, since nothing has been done to resolve the underlying problems, the slow motion train wreck will continue.

In what I suspect is related news, the U.S. Senate has passed a bill that will allow the U.S. military to be used directly against U.S. citizens on U.S. soil. They tried to sneak this little gem through in secret. I wonder what they see coming that might require the use of troops against us ordinary citizens? Molon Labe.

I would call this a back-door QE3. That notion, combined with the breakout today, the year-end seasonality (underperformers reaching for beta to catchup with their benchmark), and the "better economic news" could be a nice witch's brew to cause some pain to the shorts for a few weeks.

The Chinese relaxing reserve requirements at the same time I don't consider a mere coincidence. Nor, do I consider a mere coincidence the comments out of Mexico regarding their currency. There were probably a couple few more of those sorts of things over the past day or so that I missed, as well.

This is the most massive coordinated effort by Central Bankers and Finance Ministers I think I've ever seen, and I would not underestimate its import.

Yesterdays message was the Central Banks are coordinated with the FED leading. They know that the politicians will not act so they will kick the can till one day we wake up and all electronic money is gone. Till then the FED has trillions to play with in front of the scenes and behind it. The interest rate swap news yesterday put very little money at risk and the market jumped almost 500 points wait until they put real money behind it.

At this point I think even if you win a bet on the market blowing up it will not matter, our society as we know it will be gone.

The tickercon can go to 0 in an instant there will be no warning - till then keep repeating a CB/news driven rally then fade - they will not allow the S&P to go lower than 1000 it's all about confidence.

Unfortunately I been waiting for too long for things to correct - After two years of hearing the end is near I am throwing in the towel and will just concentrate on prepping. This game may continue for a month or years. In the mean time all of the people I tried to warn are laughing, maybe when the Idol/NFL watches stop laughing I will know it's time to go to the bunker, I think that will be my new indicator.
