Fire Them ALL

With 17% U6 unemployment I bet there are a lot of people willing to drive a snowplow:

Selfish Sanitation Department bosses from the snow-slammed outer boroughs ordered their drivers to snarl the blizzard cleanup to protest budget cuts -- a disastrous move that turned streets into a minefield for emergency-services vehicles, The Post has learned.

"They sent a message to the rest of the city that these particular labor issues are more important," said City Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Queens), who was visited yesterday by a group of guilt-ridden sanitation workers who confessed the shameless plot.

There's only one solution to this crap: Break the public employee unions, repudiate all their pensions, including previously "earned" ones, and tell them all go straight to Hell.

Every last one of them.

This sort of "job action" is a common tactic among public employee unions.  Among private employees this sort of "action" would lead to an immediate lock-out and/or non-union replacement hiring in response but among the public employee unions they think they can get away with this crap on a routine basis.  That premise comes from the pussified alleged "mayors" and "governors" that we have in our state and city governments, who are more-interested in blowing the labor unions than demanding an honest hour of work for each and every single hour of pay.

With the employment situation being what it is, there is no shortage of people available to take those jobs, especially at the ridiculously inflated wages that these "servants of the public" have "negotiated" (with a gun shoved up the butt of the taxpayer.)

The only solution to this problem is to can 'em all and repudiate every bit of so-called "benefit" they think they're going to get out of this.  Reagan did it with PATCO and it needs to be done here - right now, today.

Happy F*$#ing New Year to you New York.

There was a baby that died because police, firefighters, and EMTs could not get there to bring the mother in labor to the hospital even after 9 hours. This is not about breaking the unions, or repudating the pensions.

This is about trying all the responsible parties for negligent homicide. They are paid money to clean the street-therefore there is an obligation which they failed to fulfill and a baby died which means their dereliction of duty is the causal factor in the baby's death-negligent homicide fits the bill.

That charge starts with the governor & mayor for failing to ensure a week out the time that the blizzard was known that everything was in order. The city council was also negligent in ensuring that the mayor ensured that all was good. These jokers take home a very nice paycheck and they do not earn it, the blizzard was a time when they could earn it, but chose not to so screw they-screw them all-NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE.

Didn't people die because of lack of ambulance service? Or way delayed service? The head honchos that gave the orders to do this in protest could have some criminal charges coming at them.....This is getting ugly.

Karl, I agree 100 large with you on this one.

You have no doubt seen the video of the sanitation workers destroying a Ford Explorer.

Then you absolutely MUST see this. It's the same video, with an appropriate soundtrack. Address is below.

I'm thinking this is the ****-hits-the-fan moment for unions.

As always I have an opinion : The unions have no idea what a can of worms they are opening up when actions like this become common knowledge. They are ****ing themselves royally. They will find out that they do not rule the world sooner or later.

Ask the air traffic controllers from a few decades ago.

New Yorkers should flood the lines to gov with complaints.

Agreed. The people who voted to make it that way aren't going to have a come-to-Jesus moment and vote to stop it.

Our New .Gov elect and his Dad were and are BEHOLDEN to Onions! Why the new .Gov even went to Rangel's coming out party even while it was crystal clear as to the quality of that charachter. Carl Paladino should have been .Gov then perhaps there would have been a chance for NY. As some of us remember when NY was a thriving state with great opportunities. Too sad... The real F*&%er's are the Teakhers Onion.

Isn't this clear evidence of the w@r being wrought on the innocent citizenry by TPTB?

Public sector unions in NY are the cause of most of the financial problems in the state. I interned for a NY State Assemblyman in a district just outside Buffalo and was asked to draft any legislation that I thought would improve the State and local government's budget issues. I drafted a proposed bill that would have ended the practice of mandatory binding arbitration in wage disputes because the current law was drafted in such a way that the unions could force a pay increase without any consideration as to ability of the town (i.e. taxpayers) to pay. All the union needed to prove was that there was inflation and the cost of living had increased (not too hard to prove each and every year).

I submitted the bill to the Assemblyman's assistant for review. He laughed at the bill and stated that it would essentially be political suicide to consider it. I don't think it would have been political suicide, rather I think he was merely saving his own "entitlement" to a yearly pay increase because he was a public employee. From this experience, I realized that nothing will ever change in NY because the public employees are essentially the gatekeepers to changing anything.

Karl, Don't you think it is unfair to punish those who had nothing to do with this job action, slowdown, sabotage? Punish tens of thousands of regular workers and retirees because an unknown number of presumably supervisors concocted this scheme? be nice to have a bit more concrete proof than NY Post too.

It should be pretty easy to figure out who did/did not plow. I'm guessing that every shift the miles are logged & gas tanks are filled? If the drivers typically drive 100 miles a shift during previous snowstorms & this week only drove 20 miles, well, you do the math.

Apparently the rank and file are not as bad as the leadership. They still have a conscience when it comes to killing people.
Most of us here think the present system will never be fixed, it will simply grind along until it doesn't function at all.
Well this shows how near the edge it is. One snow storm is enough to push it past the edge entirely.
When it shudders to a halt like this on a dry sunny day its end will have arrived.

If I was a resident of NYC my petition for the redress of this grievance would take the form of pelting selected government officials with blood-filled water balloons, one balloon for each person who was killed by the malingering of the sanitation department.

Imagine if there was a fire or god forbid a terrorist attack, what then with clogged up road's?
Public safety was on the line and the Unions just like the Police Union put the lives of those who pay their bills on the line,it's thuggery plain and simple.

More people and businesses need to leave these states. Their already loosing representation. Many of the public employees leave the state they worked in when they retire. Fewer and fewer people to tax will accelerate the day of reckoning.

I've told many of my coworkers the pensions are going to be cut. You here the same old answer though, "They can't do that, the pensions are garaunteed by the state constitution." I smile and walk away.

I've also warned them that they should get rid of any jackets or T-shirts that that have insignias or logos that represent the city job they work for. When Sanitation does this type of ****, they only make all city workers bigger targets than the already are.

Interesting times ahead indeed smiley.
