I've followed the Ticker's coverage of Covid from the very beginning. Based on this coverage and my own research, I decided over a year ago that Covid was nothing more than another version of the flu. KD's early analysis of the Diamond Princess is still decisive in my mind. Over a year ago I read convincing articles elsewhere that intake of certain vitamins was a decent way to fortify my immune system and protect myself.

I remember reading Neil Ferguson's hysterical predictions which immediately gave me pause. Then, a few days later I read an article published by Oxford modelers that mercilessly criticized Ferguson's model, saying it was shabbily done and that it wildly overstated the impact of Covid. The Oxford criticism was logical and persuasive.

But that didn't stop the powers that be. The political hype started. Latching on to Ferguson's model, the WHO, the CDC, the media, Bill Gates and his cronies, and the Trump administration began their propaganda spectacles. Ferguson's model was hyped, the Oxford criticism was buried, Trump, Fauci and Birx began their daily dog and pony show. Trump called Covid the Invisible Enemy, announced Operation Warp Speed and invoked the War Powers Act to build hundreds of thousands of ventilators, which I knew from reading KD's early, trenchant analysis of China's Covid experience was absolutely misguided. Trump repeated the Ferguson lie over and over again, saying that he had to intervene or two million Americans would die of Covid.

Then the infamous "15 days to slow the spread." When Trump backed off of his plan to reopen the country on Easter, it was game on. The rest is history: masks, social distancing, cardboard cutouts in sports venues, the wholesale closing of schools, bars and restaurants, the New Normal, vaccine passports and so forth. The nation's ill-advised and propaganda-driven obsession with Covid continues to this day, as KD expertly outlines in this Ticker.

What I find remarkable about this entire saga is that the political propagandists were able to successfully leverage the vast number of nursing home deaths to instill a blinding fear into the rest of the population which, if it had been paying attention, was barely affected by and had little to fear from the disease (barring co-morbidities).

I'm 73 years old. My dad and mom lived to their mid-80's. However, the last six years of their lives were spent in nursing homes. My dad, an independent personality, hated every minute of the experience. He would have regarded a Covid-driven pneumonia-death as his friend.

Don't misunderstand. I don't dismiss or excuse the criminal actions of politicians like Gov. Cuomo with regard to nursing home deaths. My point is that death is inevitable and we must all make our own piece with it, on our own terms. I'm in relatively good health, my immune system is fortified and therapies like Ivermectin are available. Assuming I'll be ready for the nursing home in another six years or so, why should I chance disrupting these last six years of quality of life by taking a flyer on this experimental gene therapy? What will it buy me?

I think it is a totally rational decision on my part to live life unafraid as long as I can. Something is going to kill me sooner or later. Hopefully that "something" will happen before I'm consigned to die slowly in a nursing home. If it's Covid, so be it.

If this nation sinks to the barbarous level and mandates that every American take the Covid gene therapy jab, I will resist but not on the basis of "following the science" or "playing the odds." I will resist on the basis that it is my God-given right to live free and decide for myself.

That used to be what America was all about.
